TRACTOR PULLS: It's Not What You Think

When my buddy Chris told me he was building a tractor pull I had NO IDEA what I was getting myself into. I ended up learning so much about what all goes into this sport!  Thank you SO MUCH for supporting on Patreon.  I'm truly grateful that you let me explore topics that I enjoy!  Let me know what you think about how the shear forces work on the mud.  I'm not 100% sure what's going on there!

I remember my grandpa taking me to tractor pulls as a little kid and teaching me about all the different brands of tractors since he was a farm machinery salesman for a good part of his life. This video brought back good memories. Thank you!

I run a tractor. A small and slow one, but it's fun to think about the simple weights that i use to keep all 4 tires on the ground, and how that compares to the weights they use to keep it in a low wheelie. Thanks for making me think!

Loved the video, amazing to see how common guys are super nice and friendly and happy to talk about their stuff.

Lot's of fun to watch. Had heard about these events, but never took the time to ponder the intricacy involved. Thanks for presenting it in an easy to understand format. An equally fun event, that I don't think gets enough love from the general public, but has plenty of physics and engineering to dig into, would be a Lowrider Hopping contest. Using hydraulics to overcome gravity, with your back axle as the pivot point and not destroying your vehicle in the process, is so much fun to watch. I once listened closely to some of the trash talking between competitors and was surprised to find it sounded more like engineers arguing over the approach to a problem and the efficacy of the solution on display. I highly recommend you check one out. Although I don't know if there are many in your neck of the woods.

Couldn’t help but smile almost the entire time watching. Amazing people, clean fun, and the aspects of Faith and freedom just added to the greatness.

Great video I went a few years ago and it was a good time. One of the tractors blew it's motor at the end of the track and made one of the coolest fireballs ever and the driver played it off like it was nothing! It would have been cool to see in slow mo.

Will is why I love being from the south.

I loved going to tractor pulls at the county fair when I was a kid. Never missed one. Lots of pretty advanced engineering and wrenching going on to keep these machines running. Thanks for always picking such interesting content. More Coast Guard coming at some point?
