Ok, maybe I'm late to the party here. However, watching this video about twitter manipulation made me think of Ender's Game, and how Peter and Valentine used Demosthenes and Locke to manipulate public opinion for their (well, Peter's) own agendas. Thanks for the thought provoking content.

Destin, although different from your usual fare, the first episode in this series was very interesting. A tad long, but it held my attention. Unfortunately, as soon as i saw the length of this one in my YouTube feed, I skipped over it. I do intend to watch it, but for some reason the time/attention commitment turned me off. I don't have a good reason for it, but it suspect my usual YouTube consumption of 10-15 minute videos made this seem like a big ask. Still love the work, just wanted to share my experience, I promise to watch it soon.

Thanks Destin! One of my "pet peeves" is how our society appears to be universally adopting a "punish the many because one person might ______". It pushes my buttons, especially when it's something that should be common sense to NOT DO! But, I also understand that making punishments higher or more painful to endure for the transgressors, quickly crosses a line of cruel and unusual if it hasn't already. We incarcerate too many people already. I firmly believe it takes the extra effort from people like you, to truly make a dent in what I'm trying to say. Thanks

Destin, I already posted this comment on YouTube, but I thought you'd be more likely to actually see it here: YOU inspire me to political grace. I suspect that you and I don't share political parties, but I respect you and your thinking and your heart. I respect the political grace and humility that you show in your work. Through your recent 3 vids and in older vids such as the one about your interview with Obama, I hear a consistent, caring message about tolerance of differences and of being the most caring, thoughtful people we can be. Your Hero has exhorted us to do exactly what you are doing. I appreciate your work for this - for your message of caring, for your clear thinking and well-executed presentation, for your sense of joy/wonder, and for what I see as your ongoing attempts to make the world a better place. Thank you, you make me proud to be one of your Patreon supporters.

What is restricted mode?

Reddit would be a great platform to evaluate. They are criticized pretty heavily for ham-fisted manipulation prevention that often results in real-user confusion or collateral damage. Because of this, many moderators also employ their own automated tools to help prevent specific manipulation within their subreddit niche, which is an interesting twist to the reddit story (in that reddit themselves aren't the only ones identifying and combating manipulation).

Great content! On point and informative. Required viewing!

Really appreciate this content. I am putting together a summer class on Information Literacy and you are making my job sooooo easy. ;-)

Video is blocked for me. It says "Video unavailable This video is unavailable with Restricted Mode enabled. To view this video, you will need to disable Restricted Mode." Any way to get Youtube to stock blocking informational videos, or is this just part of the world we live in now?
