I too loved his Pentax, but for a different reason. I’m a cinematographer (think cameraman) and shoot a lot of projects on a set of lenses from those cameras. Exquisitely made lenses I tell ya. Btw fun fact about them, they used thorium 232 in a piece of glass near the back of the lenses. Something to do with how the light bounces. It’s a harmless amount of radiation but a geiger counter can still pick it up.

The one's great! Being interdisciplinary and idiosyncratic IS what makes it engaging. Keep up the good work!

I wish I could post photos on here, one of my persistent hobbies over the years is photography, and I went through a phase of high speed photography using smart phone triggering via microphone, with multiple flashes all while in the dark and a long/open shutter... standard fare such as skinless water balloons and shooting a ritz cracker with a pellet. Good times!

Connections!!! I miss that show, they need to do more of them...

Clifton Ballad

Always good to return to your roots :D

I really enjoyed this video, and love that you own a Pentax K1000. My dad had a darkroom and I learned photography with an SP500 and later a K1000. This is also a bit of an inspiration - I've been thinking for a while about trying to replicate the Edgerton apple shot as a learning project for Arduino or Raspberry Pi. I'm thinking subsonic .22 LR so I can trigger a strobe on a delay with an audio sensor.

I met Dr. Edgerton a few years before he died. Was working with a prof at WHOI who knew him and while I was in then lab he stopped by. Great guy and even was interested in what we were doing! Amazing guy.

Love the introspective nature of this video, Destin! What you do is definitely art to me so it was very interesting to hear about the evolution of your own style. And bonus: I needed to hear this with respect to my own art right now so thanks for something to ponder.

Amazing slow mo. Have you ever watched sand move in the surf? That might make an interesting topic. I look for shark's teeth and I'm always amazed how quickly the sand moving in the surt can make something disappear. I'd like to see that happen in slow motion. Hey! It's a good excuse to go to the beach if nothing else. :-)
