I reshot the autorotation video. I literally got in a helicopter and did an autorotation with a professional instructor. I think it will do a very good job of explaining it. I also went to Gordon's wedding. Thanks for paying for my plane ticket to Vancouver!

I spent 33 years as a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer, watched hundreds of autorotations from the real-time data telemetry and on board video. Most perfect, some good, and some ending in a wrinkled airframe. I've never been in a helicopter during an auto, and would like to avoid it. A good pilot can make it look easy when they plan to do an auto. But, when its for real, its a very tricky maneuver to accomplish even for the best test pilot.
