Our Patreon is changing...

...before you panic, there are no price hikes!

If the Welcome surveys are to be trusted, we know a lot of you are here for the Hexcrawl rules, which; Hi! Welcome! They're on here! But that's not all that's going to be on here. We're wanting to make sure we're making something new and exciting going forward.

We've been thinking a lot about how we can best serve the growing community here on our Patreon... because it's taken off far more than we ever dared hope. And we're still working full time jobs!

So, we had to take a hot minute to think about how we can best serve you folks.

Here's what we came up with:

Introducing: The Broadsheet

We're making a Monthly PDF Zine!

We're still working out a lot of the details, but we're thinking it's a perfect way to introduce you all to my campaign setting; the Atroxian Republic.

Each zine will include an adventure module that introduces a part of my campaign setting through an adventure, as well as a gazetteer for that particular setting.

It'll also include stuff like statblocks, magic items, feats, classes, or whatever else best helps convey that part of the setting to new players. It'll be a fun mixture of rules, adventure, and setting. Something for everyone.

And we've got a goal with the adventures, we're dreaming that they'll "require zero prep" — an ambitious goal I don't know if we'll meetbut the idea is that you'll be able to run them right out of the box. That layout, writing, and art, is all working together so that it's designed to be perfectly laid out in one-spread sections.

Wish us luck. I doubt we'll start off being able to do that, but we want to get there!

But I'm so swamped, how am I going to do this?

Meet: The Mystic Artists

There's more of us now!

Luckily, we're surrounded by good friends, who are both SUPER talented working professionals AND as passionate about this game as we are. So, we're able to share the workload with them a little!

Magnús Fr. You already know him! He's appeared in a couple of the livestreams now, and he's quickly become the Lead Designer on the PDFs here. Having written quite a few of them basically by himself! And for the few he didn't write without me, he made my writing passable.

He's the Senior Writer on Echoes of the End, and we've been working together as writers since 2018, that's also when we started playing together!

Brimrún Birta. You might be familiar with if you're active in our discord, she's an incredible artist who did the concept art on Echoes of the End and has her portfolio online too! She's going to be doing the art for our setting! And I couldn't be more excited!

We had so much fun in the early days of concepting for Echoes and now we'll be able to do it for my actual D&D world!

Anna Birna. AKA my girlfriend who runs this channel with me, is obviously with us on this journey! She'll not only be doing the production on the project, a job she's done at two video game projects, but she'll also be doing the layout as well! She's just started teaching herself and did the Vessels of Light in InDesign!

Daði Einars. And then of course there's me. I'll have my fingers in every part of the process, running adventures, doing writing, planning, and whatever else is needed to bring my setting to life: the Industrialized Metropolis of Blackguard! That's right, we'll be making the crap out of Blackguard!

Changing Tiers

You're getting more, for less!

So, what's happening to the tiers? It's all fairly simple, starting in August:

Starting in October, with the first issue of the Broadsheet. Our Adept Tier monthly PDFs will be replaced with the Broadsheets, which will have art, an overall higher production value and page count.

Comments

Yep, they'll all remain on the Adept tier. And we'll continue to move those PDFs into the store at a three month delay. And hi!

Mystic Arts

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but wanted to ask if the current PDFs (stuff like the Hexcrawl Rules, Firearms, etc.) would still be available at the Adept tier, or if they'll be moving somewhere different? (Also hi Daði/AB/whoever reads this!!)

Scott

It's going to be on the Adept tier since it's replacing those PDFs.

Mystic Arts

At what level would the zine be at?
