November 2020 Patron Show & Call for Q&A Questions

PRIVATE PATRON-ONLY LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_n-ltilJ5c

Hey Patrons!

I've got a bunch of project updates for you but I'm sick of filming in this room so decided to do this Patron Show update while cooling down after a morning run. In it we cover some of the stuff coming to the channel in the coming weeks, the status of Hades #06 and even show off a few minutes of our upcoming doc on Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Thanks so much for your support. Especially these days as I've been struggling a bit on the mental health side. Trying my best to stay healthy and keep the good videos coming. I hope you're all doing okay out there too.

Enjoy the show!
Danny

Have you guys thought about doing other physical merch besides the lanyards? I personally own about too many t shirts, so other choices would be cool to have.

What has been your favorite doc to work on? Were there any docs that you were super excited for because you were a huge fan of the game/studio? Which docs did you come out of liking a game way more than you did before you guys made the docs? I just love the way you guys work with studios and developers and would love to learn more about how those experiences shape your relationships with games :) Thanks always Danny, you guys are amazing.

Hey Danny! When it's safe to do filming indoors without masks (in a year or two), do you think you might get studio space again? Or rent some kind of shared studio space by the day/hour? Appreciate the update as always. Can't wait for the MFS documentary!

Thanks for all your work Danny. It remains a tough year, but don't put it all on your shoulders. We can hope things get to 'normal' eventually, with the type of production you and the audience want. Everyone's doing their best, but be patient and focus on yourself and family. Those are the real priorities no matter what. I'll be looking forward to whatever the content may be. Thanks and take care!

Love the big, indepth docs. Quality of quantity or frequency any day of the week.

I think there's a reason the "big docs" are so loved by the NoClip community. You all put in the work to get them to that level and IT SHOWS. **Big hugs**

Hi Danny! I've been curious if you have ever thought about doing docs or videos about a particular processes within games development such as a doc solely dedicated about the process of creating and implementing art or what goes into making trailers, from conceptualization to storybording, to the CG, and the role-out? These are just a couple of examples, and this is something I'm sure you can't use really recent examples because of NDAs, industry secrets, and the like, but since most of NoClip's videos touch on many of these aspects, albeit in smaller examples, it would fascinating to compare and contrast how different studios implement the same ingredients with different recipes. Just a thought, and even if it's something incredibly niche, I wanted to float the idea and gauge your thoughts. Thank you for reading my submission and for always doing these Patron Shows. Have a wonderful rest of your day!

Hi Danny, thanks as always for the update. Hope you're keeping well (as much as we can). My question for the Q&A is how do you motivate yourself to do work from home that can be tedious and requires a lot of attention/focus on the computer? I've definitely been struggling with that! Looking forward to the new content and just as an FYI I've loved the pandemic filmed docs too so I wouldn't stress too much over the quality drop of filming via Zoom or whatever, we all have realistic expectations I think and just appreciate the interview and visuals.

My question is do you have a PS5 and will you play Demon's Souls with me? I'll also ask what your favorite parts of the next gen consoles are so far? Finally if I'm allowed another question, since FromSoftware seems impossible to land, what's the likely hood of a Bluepoint Doc?

Gabriel Costa (Hired Sword)

Excited to see what you are doing with the fewer projects but bigger scope for them. Do you know how often you expect content to drop with this format, especially during Covid? Every 3-6 months or more frequently?

Eddie

Hey don't be too hard on yourself. The big docs will come back at some point but in the meantime the podcast has been great and even the interviews done remotely have been fun. Can't wait to see Hades and Flight Sim.

Are there any plans to up the resolution of the videos? I realize that what you do doesn't really warrant that. Most of what you do is interview people and combining with the recent zoom meeting format not having the best source, I get that is probably not right around the corner. BUT I got this 1440p monitor recently and now I compulsively check every video to see if it goes higher 😆

What helps you most when you're struggling mental health wise? Finding a way to get outside, even just for a brief walk, helps me a lot. The hardest part is just making it happen it seems. Super excited about both Hades 6 and Flight Simulator. Maybe it's worth doing something on Among Us? I'd also, if you'd enjoy it, really enjoy your takes on the new consoles/games and your editorializing on it all. Would be a fun Danny channel video I'm sure. Take care, and plenty of time off. :) We'll see the videos when we see them.

For the Q&A: Given how much happens in the games industry, how do you pick projects to work on? Is it based on who is available? Game release dates? Something else?
