How Prey's Mind-Bending Opening Level Was Designed

YOUTUBE LINK:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLExoItBLVc

Hey Patrons,

We begin August with a look at one of the most fascinating FPS levels of recent memory; the opening level of Arkane's Prey. In this 19 minute video we break down the 3 main areas of the level and how the team achieved their design goals by the end.

This one has a pretty big spoiler warning at the top so if you've not played Prey this is the perfect excuse to go experience the first 30 minutes, and run back to watch the video.

$5 Patrons be sure to check out our latest behind the scenes video where I take you on a trip around the bay area for our latest filming day on Hades: Developing Hell.  https://www.patreon.com/posts/40057760

Loads more videos coming this month. It should be a fun one.

Thanks as ever for your amazing support!

Danny

The Looking Glass technology was actually used in the Mandalorian - the camera linked to screens to provide the same effect as in the game. An amazing example of video game tech bleeding into TV - I had no idea they had used this effect until I watched the documentary on Disney +. Great video, as usual Danny and team.

Bloody wish I'd caught it when I watched the Early Access cut but at 3:05, when the level map comes up, the word Apartment has been misspelled. Sorry Danny, I can't believe I've become That Guy.

This is so cool, and one of those things that is done so well that it seemed effortless. Thank you for pulling back the curtain!
