Hey folks!

We don't post the Noclip Podcast links here every week but we thought this one was pretty special. We had Hugo Martin (id Software) in the studio for a few hours to record a podcast (and a video, coming soon) and it was as interesting and fun as you'd imagine.

This was the dream of getting the studio set up. Being able to record fun videos and podcasts with folks touring the Bay Area with their games. Thanks to you it's now happening and it's helping Noclip become a destination for developers. This is all thanks to you - thank you so much!

We have David D'Angelo from Yacht Club Games (creators of Shovel Knight) coming in today so if you have any questions for him post them in the comments below!

Hugo, you had me at the next Doom game. Not sure what I'm more stoked for, Doom or Cyberpunk. Danny, sooo glad you went video for the podcasts. Now if only the Beastcast would...

Imagine Star Wars with someone who loves lore as much Hugo being in charge of it? I think the closest thing we have to that is Dave Filoni because both cartoons and The Mandalorian actually seem to appreciate existing lore while building on it instead of jettisoning it out the airlock. Give the next set of movies to Dave. As always it was a pleasure to hear Hugo and the team's approach to game design. More Hugo after launch if to get a deeper dive if possible please!

So good - Hugo remains one of the best interviewees in the industry! Thanks to everyone that made this happen <3

Gotta say that was surprisingly candid especially as it’s pre-release. It certainly did the job of getting me even more excited for Doom Eternal.

Love listening to this man talk. Clearly loves absolutely everything about Doom. Got a bit giddy when the BJJ references started flying too! This was class.

Fantastic interview. Really great questions, and Hugo's passion is palpable. Love how real he is and how he's not afraid to talk about other games. Does Hugo have a Twitter? Can't seem to find him on there if he does.

Question for David: Shovel Knight is a series that wears its inspirations on its sleeve, so I'm curious: what games did y'all look at when designing Joustus? People make the Triple Triad comparison, but I was wondering if there were other card games you pulled from. Additionally, it's pretty well documented that development on the series has taken a lot longer than y'all anticipated. How did the team feel committing to designing a card game in addition to a brand new campaign with all the bells and whistles for King Knight?
