Hades: Developing Hell - Episode One

YOUTUBE LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzyE9hi912c

Here we are folks, the first episode of our series on the development of Supergiant Games' early access title; Hades. It concerns the lead-up to The Game Awards as the team prepares the early access build and their launch trailer.

A massive shout-out to Jeremy Jayne for doing all the work on the studio side (filming & interviewing) and to John-Paul in their studio who filmed a bunch of cool extras that really helped this first story come together. It was a dream to edit this together over the past few weeks.

We hope you enjoy the show. Let us know what you think!

Great first episode, really enjoyed it! Looks like a nice team! One criticism though, please get John-Paul a steady cam!

Amazing insight. I have both Transistor & Pyre in my backlog. Seeing the love and passion Supergiant have for their games, I'll definitely go back and finally play them

Ahhhh what a fine video.

Very cool to hear, thanks Marc!

That's rad. Amir seems like a really nice guy. We've still not met. Just plenty of cross-coastal Skype calls!

It's cool that the episode managed to give you more insight into their decision making. Really glad to hear that. Thanks for the kind words!

This is great stuff. Really cool to see these kinds of stories from No Clip.

Such a great start to this series. Supergiant have been my favourite developer since Transistor (in no small part thanks to the use of music in their games), but as someone who hates the idea of early access (I’d rather wait and play a finished, polished game; if you like it though, more power to you) I was bummed at the announcement of Hades. That care and polish (taking a trip to Poland 😂) is what draws me to Supergiant games. But, after watching this video, I feel reassured that Supergiant has all the best intentions taking the early access route with this game, so I’ve given in and bought it. Just had to keep on supporting this studio. Can’t wait for the next video!

I don't know much about shooting film, but I really enjoy these docs and the obvious professionalism involved. Great show!

Rick

Love Supergiant through their games, looking forward to see how Hades develops :)

Piotr Kostecki

That was excellent, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series. The mix of your traditional, professionally staged interviews with the studio's own handheld footage gave the doc a candid feel. You felt part of it, it was hard not to get caught up with the excitement and nervousness around the launch reveal.

cant wait to watch this, had a quick look of start so small heads up spelling mistake at 1:32 - receive

This was great, I think it might end up being my favourite thing so far. Supergiant seem like such a good honest team, working hard and smart, can't wait to see more.

Fantastic video. I shall be picking the game up very soon in early access. Supergiant will always hold a special place in my heart. I played Bastion when it launched on 360 and immediately restarted it and then beat it again. After that experience I went to the barebones Supergiant site and found an email address. I sent a heartfelt thank you to them, the first and only time I have ever done that. A short while later Amir wrote me back. It wasn’t a form response it was real. I shall never forget that. This group of people are honestly the best kind of developer and I shall always support them. Danny I am so happy you are doing this. I can’t wait for more.

I was going to wait for this game to hit the Switch, but now after watching this I just want to support these guys so I may just have to buy the PC version now and pick up the Switch one again when it comes out!

This first video was so fucking cool. Can't wait to see what the rest of early access and these videos hold.

Thanking you
