Hey folks,
So, we got the keys to our new place a week ago, and since then life has been a series of long days involving moving boxes, building furniture and eating dinner on the floor while we wait for chairs to arrive.
I know it's early days, but I couldn't be happier with the move. We absolutely adore it here. Instead of highway traffic 24/7 all we hear outside are birds. The area is full of farms, corn fields, local shops and pleasant people. Our internet is THREE TIMES FASTER than Oakland. I have a leaf blower (man there are so many leaves already). Our kitchen is actually big enough to cook things in. And having a dedicated "bedroom" that isn't also living space is amazing. I haven't slept so well in years, and my mental health is feeling very soothed and even the cats seem much more playful. Clearly we were cooped up in that apartment too long.
On top of that, I now have a dedicated work area to build a set and edit space. So much of the past week has involved buying and packing containers, grouping up cables for easy access, figuring our lighting and wiring, and generally trying to feel out the space. It's amazing to be able to just leave cameras up, and know that I can film something on a moment's notice.
I'm still building the room out, looking at furniture and trying to piece it all together, but this week will also be my first sitting down at the computer and getting some work done. We have a bunch of exciting projects coming up, and some videos in the pipeline and so I wanted to give you a heads up as to what to expect over the coming days, weeks & months.
Days
This week I'll be putting out a call out for patron Q&As along with the resulting video next week. I'll also be hosting our first patron hangout from the new location (back on Google Hangouts by popular demand). Check your inboxes for info on those in the coming days.
Weeks
The next video you'll see from Noclip will be the PLAYERUNKNOWN Profile we filmed at PAX West. Immediately afterwards we're flying back to Europe for our last filming project of the year. I can't say where or who right now, but we'll do a hangout on location and the turnaround for the video will be pretty fast. It will either be a couple of videos, or one, long, beefy one. It all depends on how the shoot goes. But it's an exciting one. We'll be revealing it the first week of November, and of course Patrons will know about it first.
Months
In November we'll be posting the GTA Online community video we filmed in Tennessee before the trip to Poland. It's a single video, but really interesting and full of charming southern gamers. Our "European" project will be live in the first half of December. We'll also be putting out most (if not all) of the remaining Noclip Sessions in December and into January. Almost like a pick n' mix for the holiday break.
Merch
Thanks to everyone who picked up a Noclip shirt over the coming months. It's actually really helped a lot with funding. We fulfilled a couple of hundred orders revenue from those helped me budget a little more on some 2018 stuff. In terms of new stuff some folks have been asking for a "plain" Noclip logo shirt, so that will coming in time for the holidays. We'll also have another unique design like the "Year One" shirt, and we're playing with the idea of making a holiday "Anti Loot-Box Box" with a bunch of stuff like postcards, stickers, (fidget spinners?) and stuff in it. But only if there's an appetite for it. As ever, if you have any issues with orders, email support@noclip.video for help.
Community
I'm re-thinking the way we communicate to Patrons and the public entirely. With a dedicated set and streaming area I see no reason why I can't post more video updates on here / twitter and beyond. So keep your eyes peeled for more on that as plans come together. (PS I'll be getting discord access back today, I've been locked out for 2 weeks, hah!)
That's pretty much it for now. It's been a really amazing week moving into this new house. We're closer to home, closer to family, and in the countryside where our hearts and minds clearly needed to be. This would not have been possible without Noclip so I have to take a moment to thank all of you for helping us get here. Without your support I'd forever be magnetized to the games press economy of the Bay Area. But thanks to your funding of this project I now get to live in a place that not only feels better for me, but provides better opportunities for business growth.
If you have any questions, please put the below. Patrons in the Q&A / Hangout tiers, expect posts in the coming days.
Talk soon, I've got some stuff to edit / unpack :)
