HELLO FROM MARYLAND!

Hey folks,

So, we got the keys to our new place a week ago, and since then life has been a series of long days involving moving boxes, building furniture and eating dinner on the floor while we wait for chairs to arrive.

I know it's early days, but I couldn't be happier with the move. We absolutely adore it here. Instead of highway traffic 24/7 all we hear outside are birds. The area is full of farms, corn fields, local shops and pleasant people. Our internet is THREE TIMES FASTER than Oakland. I have a leaf blower (man there are so many leaves already). Our kitchen is actually big enough to cook things in. And having a dedicated "bedroom" that isn't also living space is amazing. I haven't slept so well in years, and my mental health is feeling very soothed and even the cats seem much more playful. Clearly we were cooped up in that apartment too long.

On top of that, I now have a dedicated work area to build a set and edit space. So much of the past week has involved buying and packing containers, grouping up cables for easy access, figuring our lighting and wiring, and generally trying to feel out the space. It's amazing to be able to just leave cameras up, and know that I can film something on a moment's notice.

I'm still building the room out, looking at furniture and trying to piece it all together, but this week will also be my first sitting down at the computer and getting some work done. We have a bunch of exciting projects coming up, and some videos in the pipeline and so I wanted to give you a heads up as to what to expect over the coming days, weeks & months.

Days
This week I'll be putting out a call out for patron Q&As along with the resulting video next week. I'll also be hosting our first patron hangout from the new location (back on Google Hangouts by popular demand). Check your inboxes for info on those in the coming days.

Weeks
The next video you'll see from Noclip will be the PLAYERUNKNOWN Profile we filmed at PAX West. Immediately afterwards we're flying back to Europe for our last filming project of the year. I can't say where or who right now, but we'll do a hangout on location and the turnaround for the video will be pretty fast. It will either be a couple of videos, or one, long, beefy one. It all depends on how the shoot goes. But it's an exciting one. We'll be revealing it the first week of November, and of course Patrons will know about it first.

Months
In November we'll be posting the GTA Online community video we filmed in Tennessee before the trip to Poland. It's a single video, but really interesting and full of charming southern gamers. Our "European" project will be live in the first half of December. We'll also be putting out most (if not all) of the remaining Noclip Sessions in December and into January. Almost like a pick n' mix for the holiday break.

Merch
Thanks to everyone who picked up a Noclip shirt over the coming months. It's actually really helped a lot with funding. We fulfilled a couple of hundred orders revenue from those helped me budget a little more on some 2018 stuff. In terms of new stuff some folks have been asking for a "plain" Noclip logo shirt, so that will coming in time for the holidays. We'll also have another unique design like the "Year One" shirt, and we're playing with the idea of making a holiday "Anti Loot-Box Box" with a bunch of stuff like postcards, stickers, (fidget spinners?) and stuff in it. But only if there's an appetite for it. As ever, if you have any issues with orders, email support@noclip.video for help.

Community
I'm re-thinking the way we communicate to Patrons and the public entirely. With a dedicated set and streaming area I see no reason why I can't post more video updates on here / twitter and beyond. So keep your eyes peeled for more on that as plans come together. (PS I'll be getting discord access back today, I've been locked out for 2 weeks, hah!)

That's pretty much it for now. It's been a really amazing week moving into this new house. We're closer to home, closer to family, and in the countryside where our hearts and minds clearly needed to be. This would not have been possible without Noclip so I have to take a moment to thank all of you for helping us get here. Without your support I'd forever be magnetized to the games press economy of the Bay Area. But thanks to your funding of this project I now get to live in a place that not only feels better for me, but provides better opportunities for business growth.

If you have any questions, please put the below.  Patrons in the Q&A / Hangout tiers, expect posts in the coming days.

Talk soon, I've got some stuff to edit / unpack :)

HELLO FROM MARYLAND!

If you are rewiring the house, I would recommend having several independent fuses for the studio. Either dividing the room in half or putting each wall on an independent circuit. Film lights and can put a heavy load and trip home circuits often, unless they are the new LED panels. That is awesome the move is going well for you, your wife, and cats. :)

Kristopher

That must feel awesome to have a house with room to stretch out and a place to leave work behind. So happy for you Danny, cannot wait to see what this new and exciting change does for your motivation and creativity! Take your time settling in, your patrons understand.

Tory Thompson

Once a culchie, always a culchie. Congrats on escaping the rat race. Considering where you live now, and all the international travel you do, you should consider being a spook. Fire off a few CV's with links to your Hitman Let's Plays.

Shapey Fiend

Congratulations! Enjoy whatever moments of peace and rest you can as you've earned it, though I'm sure there isn' ta whole lot of that when you have to unpack etc.

Gabriel Costa (Hired Sword)

Congratulations Danny - I love the space. The brick is beautiful.

Jacob McCourt

This. Studio build would be awesome

So glad to hear you're happy with the move and that NoClip has allowed you to extricate yourself from the Bay Area. I want lots of pics and videos of your country life!

HELLO BACK FROM MARYLAND! Seriously though glad you’re in a better place (both physically and mentally) after this move. Welcome back to having 4 seasons!

Craig Parker

Happy you’re settled in. Sounds like you’ll have a productive and busy Q4. My reaction to a loot box idea - meh. To be honest I like one off items because they can be unique and lasting in impression where a box of smaller trinkets will end up collecting dust around my place. What if love to see - maybe a plaque or something significant like that to hang on my wall as a sign of “I’ve been part of this since day 1”. Maybe an old school controller with an engraved “Noclip” on it. Maybe a cartridge from NES? Things of that nature.

Tohir Tillyaev

Congratulations on the move and wish you all the best in your new chapter in life. The Witcher series was fantastic can’t wait to see more!

Congrats mate! Super happy for you, and only a little bit jealous you get to live in Maryland. Absolutely loved that part of the country. All the best and enjoy yourself!

Theron Miles

Looking good Danny! Nice to have you on the East Coast. Whenever things are less hectic, might I recommend looking up ReplayFX? It's up here in Pittsburgh and it is a solid weekend of pinball, arcade, and retro games. I just went this year and it was a blast.

Chris Shomo

Glad to hear your feeling great in the new house. Mental health is important!

Mattias Lundqvist

That's awesome! Looking forward to the future!

Nice and congrats.

Congrats on the move and glad to see everything worked out!

mcwizardry

Very happy for you and your wife, Danny! Exciting stuff! Do you think you could make a BTS video on building the studio? It would be very cool to see the process of turning part of a living space into a dedication video production space.

Looking good and already filling up nicely!

Bavo Debraekeleer

Have you thought about looking into Legacy of Kain next year? You were unsure when I asked you last time but figured now you had more focus after The Witcher series.

Congrats on everything, you truly deserve it for the work you've put in and produce. You might be awake at a reasonable time to see early Arsenal games now

Who ho! Nice! <3 We really need a video of you...exploring the backyards woods...after dark. >.

Im a big supporter of being in positive environments and feel so happy you seem to have found one that works for both of you. A happier and healthier Danny makes for a better Noclip and makes for better docs.

I'm glad you're liking the new area! Small town charm is something I've come to appreciate over the years.

emotionalBlueberry

Nicely done on the move. Are you near wooded areas where you can roam dressed as a vault-dweller?

We put one in the living room and there's so much relative space that they hardly use it. So it would probably be a very empty cat tree :D

Noclip

Wow you never take a break Danny. Glad to hear the move has been good for your mental health <3 can't wait to see you get some usage out of your new space. Looking great so far!

Dan Longman

Congrats Danny! Definitely miss the chill VA/MD vibes back home. Enjoy it :)

Alex Van Aken

Will there be a cat tree in the set background for old time's sake? :)

Nicholas Sylvain

Looks nice and cosy! Congrats on the move Danny :)
