Exclusive Update: Rocket League Doc Release Date, Doc #2 & more!

Hey folks,

What a week it's been. I just got back from 13 days of flying, meetings,  filming, patron meet-ups & interviews and am already deep into editing the Rocket League docs. It's insanely busy right now, but I wanted to take a few minutes to give you all an exclusive update on what's going on and when you can expect the first docs. Let's get to it!

Rocket League Documentary Series Release Dates

A trailer for the documentary series will be going live on the Rocket League blog tomorrow . They're also announcing a cool little collaboration, but I'm not gonna spoil that. There will be two docs in the series and they'll be hitting next week on Monday the 31st, and Tuesday the 1st. The special patron-exclusive features will follow that week. I originally wanted to get both out before the end of the month, but decided to straddle the months to avoid new patrons getting double billed if they sign up the day before November 1st. 

Doc #2 is Booked

We're flying away next week to shoot doc #2. It's an incredibly exciting project and one we're gonna have a little more time to to spend editing. I'll be announcing it to patrons first some time next week :)

Noclip Rocket League Artwork!

As part of the Rocket League doc launch we commissioned a special piece of artwork by Patreon artist (and friend) Erica Lahaie. We'll be launching it this weekend. It's been designed to fit nicely as a desktop background, and perhaps in the future we'll make posters out of these. Expect more with upcoming projects. Just something cool to get folks excited around the series.

Doc #3, and #4, and #5.....

The first two docs are pretty beefy video game retrospectives, and we're currently in talks with several publishers about dives into older franchises (and some upcoming ones) so in December we're going to try something different. I'm not sure exactly what it is - perhaps a large set of shorter videos around players - or some conversations with a few personalities. I've got some cool ideas, but open to hearing some from you too.

What's crazy about all this is the first two docs are actually the first two I had dreamed of doing when we first launched. And my idea for December was always to do something a bit different. I feel both relieved and excited about how it's all gone down!

Patron Hangout / Patron Q&A

I decided to leave these pretty late in the month to make sure that the docs were nearly out we could really dive into them. So I'm going to put out a call for Q&A questions in the coming week, and looking for a time to do another hangout. The Sunday one worked great, but didn't work for everyone. If you have any suggestions put them in here, but I'm also thinking of going the next Hangout when I'm on location at doc 2, so we can really have a chat. Expect a post about all that here soon.

Back to work...

Apart from that, I've got an insane amount of work to do. We're filming separate locations today and tonight for the Rocket League doc, I'm finishing off the trailer, both videos need to get completed, as do a bunch of extra features (including the making of) not to mention content like closed captions. So apologies if the updates (and streams) have slowed down, but that's the reality of editing crunch. It'll all be worth it when you see how much time and love has gone into these videos. I can't wait to share them. A bunch of stuff is gonna land on the Noclip YouTube channel next week and we're working hard to make sure it all looks great.
