How I use Design Doll to help set up complicated panels

Quick post while I'm thinking about it/wasting time today. I primarily use the free program Design Doll to help me set up complicated panels, whether because the panel has a lot of characters in it, because I want certain elements to stay consistent, or because I want to use a wacky "camera" angle. So here's a brief walkthrough!

Here I have three models at approximately the right heights for Aubrey, Marcus and Harvey. You can make them more detailed using the various slider tools, or just keep them as the weird androgynous giant-head models that pop up when you go to Item->Add Object->Model.  I like to at least get the heights correct, because that helps a lot in keeping everyone consistent.

I built the house! I used the box tool to drag out and arrange boxes at approximately the right sizes to reflect the general proportions of the house. I also sometimes make houses in the Sims to use as reference, but this is the lighter version. Note: it is a pain in the ass to do this. I love Design Doll, but the box tool comes with three buttons: draw a box, move/rotate a box, and delete a box. I don't know why it took me forever to figure out how to make something convincing using those three tools, but it did. I also tried to line everyone up about where I needed them.

This is the thumbnail for this panel! It's not very detailed, but that's kind of the point. I needed Harvey far in the background, so Design Doll helped me keep everyone in relatively the right arrangement.

I modified the poses on the models a little to better reflect the shapes I'll end up drawing. Not quite as dynamic as the original thumbnail, but that's to be expected! But this is much more clear in everyone's size relationships, which was my ultimate goal.

The free version of Design Doll doesn't allow you to save your models, so I usually just leave this program open until I'm done for the day O_O. I really should pay for it so I can save, buuuut I'm lazy.
