In this episode we talk about the granite/gneiss knobs that surround the Atlanta, Georgia area and the cool plants that grow there, getting unintentionally shot at by morons at Arabia mountain, exploring limestone glades of Alabama with Kyle Lybarger, how much puke would it take to reach the confederate statue on the side of Stone Mountain if one were puking down from above, how important fire is to East Coast and Southeast ecosystems (especially for suppressing tick populations) and a ton more.

You should check out 3 B Natives sometime! I started working for them a few years ago and found a gem! Opened up my world and fell in love with natives. Love your videos and podcasts too!

To be an annoying bastard - Cook County actually has a very robust prescribed burn program that will burn every day in the spring and fall when conditions are right. There is also one of the most active volunteer communities around ecological restoration in the world that is encouraged to get trained by the county and help burn with county staff. The trend we're seeing though is that historically, the majority of prescribed burning would take place in the fall but due to climate change, we're seeing the burn window get pushed further and further into the spring. At the rate we're going and combined with the mild winters, we're not that far from doing winter burning https://blockclubchicago.org/2025/04/04/prescribed-burns-were-banned-3-decades-ago-now-cook-county-is-a-leader-in-urban-burning/
