Let's Make (more) Fake Beams!
Added 2023-07-29 19:46:26 +0000 UTCHIIII okay so you may have seen my older video about my fake beam process with EVA foam, but upons-t seeing Nerd Forge's method of using insulation foam boards, I wanted to give that a try. I wanted to tackle adding a beam border to my big barn window since I've been putting that off (as I am oft to do oops)
ANYWHO just wanted to document the trials and tribulations and uhhh yeah ENJOYY.

Summer was great! and then we've got 1,5 weeks of rain. warm, stormy and rainy. all the people cried " we had no summer" eh? Where were they? and then it get even worse, 2 Weeks HOT burning summer. And they loved it?! I'm ready for autumn. grey dark rainy days NOW!!!!!

2023-08-12 07:55:26 +0000 UTCI Love that high density foam! Used to make gravestones out of it for halloweenie! If you prime it first then you can use other paints that would normally eat it after. For some of the grave stones I'd prime and then use the stone texture spray and then paint and weather on top of that. So much fun. :) Also... since I'm sure you'll find more uses for the foam, if you haven't got a hot wire cutter yet (I can't remember if I've seen you using one or not.) *chefs kiss* cuts like BUTTER.

I feel like you could probably put them on the back of each “beam” and it would be easy to remove them when needed! But I haven’t tried it so I don’t know for sure. I understand trying to decorate in a unique way in an apartment though!!

If you're going to paint your window frame to match, look into "Liquid Mask and Peel". It's basically liquid painter's tape that you apply directly to the glass.

I get that this is more creative and whimsical for a diy video, but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen her hubby in videos use wood cutting tools, which I personally would be ITCHING to use 😂 anyway, still cute, and has definitely got me planning projects.

I had to do it in commercial art class in high school for an Egyptian tablet project back in … 1995? Ish? 😂 It works great. You just have to practice a little restraint. 😂😅

Wednesday it was upper 90s in the mountains where I was working and 100 in the town where I live. Took my pup to the river and just sat in it for 1/2 an hour until someone threw those snapper things and the dog was like "nope." Then sat around in wet clothes in the apartment, which even with AC was in the 80s. Please send fall weather and spoopy content soon!

You can use a dremel or they make these things like look like cheese graters on a stick that let you carve away large areas of foam to make organic shapes. We did this a lot for theatrical set design in college. The window looks lovely, thank you for taking us on your whimsical adventures. Please let the countdown to fall begin.
