How Peyote Recovers from SunBurn

In this episode we take a look at a few peyote plants that were sunburned suddenly when the Buffelgrass that was shading them out was removed. Epicuticular Wax is produced by the epidermal tissue itself and is a protective covering that reflects ultraviolet light, serving as one of the best defenses against "sunburn", which is a detrimental combination of both heat and sun exposure that causes a bleaching of the epidermal tissue.

Nice walk

So does the damaged tissue heal itself gradually, or is the damaged epidermis sloughed off, and a new one forms underneath it? Lovely little cactus peyote is. I'd like to grow some, not for psychotropic fun. I can't do trippy stuff, weed is as far as I'll go, lol. They're cool looking. I'd love one of those "horse cripplers," also. I can only have cacti because of my cats.

It doesn't take so long in this climate. For example , it was 85 degrees yesterday (the day after Christmas). Metabolism and growth rate are dependent on temperature

Cool that in less than a year the Lophophora skin heals after being burned. But to grow in size it takes soooo long. Nice habitat, definitely interesting variety of plant life.
