Andy's Orchid Dungeon

Feedback on this one appreciated...too long? Too long-winded in the explanations? There's an entire second part as the whole compendium was too long. Should I have just kept it all as one 56 minute video? What's easiest to watch for you, the viewer?

Thanks in advance.

fine with the long ones, as I will always watch part II immediately

I love the long vids, and watch them multiple times to soak in the info.

When I saw refer back to it, I mean if I want to see a species or topic you talked about I would rather it be in one video than trying to remember which part it was in.

Cassandra

For a video like this I feel like I prefer it all in one long part, because when I'm refering back to it I can just think "the long awesome orchid video"

Cassandra

Shorter version - I feel like 20-30 minutes is about perfect for your style, but the deeper dives are great when the subject warrants it.

KSE

I like longer vids, at least when the content justifies it, but there are pros and cons. The main pro is that I don't have to rely on my memory or YouTube's shitty search algorithm when I'm trying to figure out if I left off in part 4 or 5 of 6... The downside (maybe an upside from your perspective) is that my attention span is probably going to wane somewhere in the middle so I'll wind up watching three or four times before I've actually absorbed the whole thing.

I just want to learn, thank you for teaching me as much as you have. And thank you for asking

Wifket

Joey, honestly, I could listen to you talk about plants for hours. Or just generally be misanthropic.

Whatever works for content. Spontaneity rules.

I have been enjoying the abundance of content recently...including the Orchid Dungeon..If videos get long it's just an excuse to visit again and again,,,thank you for your efforts.

Sherry Newman

I thought this was about the right length. Ignore me if this is a pain in the ass, but it might be helpful to put all the non-orchid plants in one segment opening with that clip about how he propagates everything that tags along.

Scott Cave

It's not too long, for anyone interested in Orchids its a perfect length. It's just like an episode of a TV show, but not shit.

Ricky GC Eaton

I have no fucking idea about orchids, they're like the opposite of what I'm into, at least to my understanding, and I've never even bothered to do any research, but let's dive in and see what the heck Orchids are about. If anyone can open the door, it's you.

Ricky GC Eaton

I'm in favor of longer videos. Your stuff is very informative and i appreciate the amount of explanation you go into.

Bep

I think it all depends on the content and what makes sense for that particular lesson/topic. some information you just shouldn't split up. in this particular case where we're looking at orchids from everywhere it doesn't hurt to have a cliffhanger. I guess in terms of trying to hook someone who's interested but not necessarily A fanatic, smaller more bite-sized 5-15 min lessons (Scishow-style) are more digestible, sub 30 minute videos are more conducive for people to watch on a lunch break, or while they're waiting for their oil change. but most of your videos are an adventure as much as they are about the plants so the longer videos don't really bother me it just means I have to wait until I'm done with work to watch

Better&Better

I dont mind a longer video but i usually end up having to do shit and come back to them so 20-30 mins is probably better. That being said i could just watch them in the evening instead of as soon as i see that theyre posted.

Ashley Dickinson

I prefer the longer vids but you have to have a life. I'm sure they're a pain in the ass to edit. I had CITES listed plants up until about a year ago. Sarracenia oreophila. Someone gave them to me. It's illegal to buy, sell or trade them, but I guess you can give them away. Mice got into the pots when the plants were overwintering and ate their roots. bastards.

April Hughes

I like them in about 30 minute chunks - but however you like them is good.

Steve Gustafson

Either way. Long is fine if it's easier for you but whatever works.

John Frum

I'll watch whatever you got.
