Microloma, Anacampseros

In this episode we return to Namaqualand, South Africa to further explore the cast of species that make this region such a remarkable place of endemism and evolutionary marvel...the kind of place that will land you on your ass with wonder and excitement at just how weird evolution and ecology can get.

Actually the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and the University of Northern Arizona offer an endless education.

So I just got through a most amazing drive thru Utah. I found myself constantly wondering how it all came to be. I said to myself more than once that if Tony were here he would know the answers to all my questions. Came to the realization that I need to become my own Tony. I have the booklets explaining Arches and Zion Nat. Parks, but is there a good geological type book out there that gives the big picture? Thanks for all your videos!

"You should look at plants within their context" <--- this really resonated with me. It would be cool if you made a video where you discuss all the aspects that "context" includes (evolution, soil, pollinators, ..., ... ?), maybe using a concrete plant as an example?

"...geyser of misery." So funny...

Question: At 3:29 to 3:33, am I seeing a caterpillar? If so, who is dat? I briefly searched for African caterpillars and the results were pretty crappy. The only one I could find that came close (to what I think I'm seeing) was an African Monarch. Looked for the plant, you have labeled, trying to link it to milkweed (like a freakin' dummy) to no avail. Anyway, if it is a caterpillar, you missed an opportunity to chat with him/her.......watch it just be a shadow or I'm having a flashback, or something.
