Added 2021-04-29 05:18:06 +0000 UTCA great day spent out at the Burney Mountain Baker Cypress Grove, studying fire ecology of this rare tree and taking an up close look at how members of the redwood family get pollinated (hint : it's wind, of course), but goddamn the immature female cones of this species are tiny.

They have Lilacia Park, the Lilac Parade, etc. When I was a kid, the garbage trucks were painted lilac and white. I escaped DuPage at 17 and moved to Hollywood, CA. Hollywood was most definitely more fun.

If I don't loose them to damping off then they will still die within a year or two and I have no idea why...

The way around this is to increase aeration and water from the bottom of the pot using a tray, leaving the soil surface dry
