This is probably one of my favorite horror themed shoots. The idea behind the images is that two close friends are stuck in limbo together, and never leave each other's side through eternity. I have an art book titled Offerings that contains several of my blood shoots, and a selection of this series was included.
Here is an excerpt from the book:
-
I remember the grey skies that day. The
fall air pushing between us as we stepped
through fields of mud and dying grass.
The trees shivered as they shed theirs
leaves, falling ever so effortlessly to the wet
grounds before us. Our shoes carried with
it the very earth that we stood on. And with
each passing step, our white skirts scrapped
against the dirt and grass that laid open
before us, carving hidden paths into nature.
I remember the way the wind blew through
your hair as your hand lay within mine,
holding tight as we looked out into the abyss
of greens and reds of fall. We both lay in
the wet ground. Body’s cold, still holding
onto each other as the earth surrounded use in comfort.
We have fallen. White blouses were now
replaced with clay. Blood from our wounds
stained our bodies cold. But we held tight
within the walls of limbo. Holding onto each
other, only lost from the world above and
below. We promised each other, held each other.
We will always be together.
I will always be with you...

The second half of the story is actually from another series i shot with the same models titled "The Edge of Fall" which represents before limbo, and was shot entirely outside in the fall after a rain storm.
The book is self published, but not for sale, as it would cost about $300 per book unless I had several orders. I will eventually post a set of images from the book when I get the chance to photograph a few of the pages for my portfolio.
