December Preview - Unsplash, Better thumbnails

Unsplash Plugin progress

Unsplash.com is a photo site which has some great high quality photos available.  I've compared it to Pixabay, which we have already working as a plugin, and have been really impressed by the quality of images that it can provide.  While it doesn't have Vectors or illustrations, it does have high quality photos that seem much more at home on a digital frame.  So I'm proud to present a preview of that plugin which I'm working on wrapping up this week.

New Thumbnail engine

This was done by BDLou who some of you have chatted with in the Discord. He's put a ton of work into this and it was supposed to be part of the November release but we hit a snag and his code was overwritten.  I've resubmitted it and will commit to it going out in the December release. His work allows for thumbnails of video files as well as 'internet' files, which means that plugins are now working correctly and displaying thumbnails.  We still have to do some filtering of plugin files, but for now the thumbnails at least help know what is in the playlist.

Raspberry Pi5 Status

We've investigated the OS changes required for a pi5 (and to move our OS to a more current, secure, and just..modern release) and have a list of issues that we have to address. I have a plan for it and some prototype work, and will continue to work on it in the background through December. The real work will start in January, and I'll keep you updated. I know a number of Patreons have already acquired Pi5's and are eager to see what they can do.  We're going to work on it and figure it out, but it's going to take some time.  We appreciate the patience the community has shown.
