September Patreons Welcome! Build and dev updates

Link to the build above

NOTE: You may have to use 7zip to extract the build..if using Windows, the built in zip functionality does not have the capability to extract the compression technique we used.

Getting Started Guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qwQxV47mJHz7DZQ9IeVmd6n_vVxxrJTZ/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=102220822686216322441&rtpof=true&sd=true

NOTE: You may need 7zip to unzip that file on windows. We have upped the compression technique quite a lot to make the downloads faster and smaller, but windows may not work well for extracting it.

Welcome! If you're new this month, you just missed an amazing August. You may want to read back a few posts to see what's new. I need to make a running update, but I'll wait till the next major release for that.

Development updates:
1) There is a beta that QWK has released in the Discord that has some bug fixes. It's beta so not quite stable, but if you're technical or like cutting edge, he's got a store code to get you to the latest beta. It's mostly a bugfix build, but has some nice things like getting the scifi theme back in parity, and exif data is now showing.

2) Lou has been heads down working on prototyping overlays. We know it's a hot item for those coming from movieposterapp or movienow, and we're doing what we can to support it. That being said, we want to keep this app as generic as possible, so it's being designed to work with not only movie data, but other data that you may want to display as well for overlays.

3) QWK has been working on comitup issues and imaging work.  There's a ton of work that goes into the images we create, and he's constantly improving it.  He's making things like the linux share permissions better so files can be deleted and such.

4) I've been heads down on the plugin engine and a playlist viewer (with thumbnails). This will eventually enable everything from kodi support to sites like pixabay and instagram (eventually). I'll do a separate post on my thoughts about how plugins are one of the most powerful things a developer can do for the community, and a bit about the recent histories I've witnessed with moveiposterapp and movienow.  But that's for another time.  For now I'm working on a plugin engine that will include the ability to have a webpage to configure a plugin as well as integrate the playlist from that plugin with the rest of the app.  In the very near future I want to support not just content plugins like deviantart and pixaby, but also input systems (mqtt, IR remotes), as well as notifcation systems (alerts from home assistant lets say).  We'll get there, this work this month is a big step towards it.

I've also done some work on location data, exif fixes, and more as well.

Not all of the above will make it into the next release, but we're taking the approach of working hard on each item with the goal of a release towards the end of the month with as much as we can get in it. If we can't make it stable we'll release it as a beta and then work to stabilize it.  These are pretty ambitious features we're putting in, but it's time to take this thing to the next level.

Oh...and yah, I'm aware Halloween is coming up......I'm making some gifts for that so you'll be ready.......#herecometheclowns

atmosfx does great work, and it'd work great with the frames! I was making some AI artwork and will release a pack to the store (we call it a store but all of the content is free currently, it's more of an easy way to get stuff on frames). I'll let you know when that's ready. AI gneerates some creepy stuff :) But the atmosfx stuff is even cooler, it moves!
