August Full Image release (Updated!)
Added 2022-08-14 07:59:28 +0000 UTCThis is the 'Full' image release for August.
Note: The August release before 8/16 had an issue with wifi pairing. That has been resolved in this release.
August Image release new features (Image only)
- Pi3 Performance enhancements
- Posters folder is now named "Media" for the samba/UNC network share.
Bugfixes since last release:
- NAS drives no longer have to be marked as 'read/write' (Regression in original August release) - Thanks Mark and Jan for tracking that down!
Note: While we work to get a proper CDN, we're using a google drive for this release. It should be better/faster than previous attempts we've tried. We do have a plan that we're working on for a better download location.

August release new features (Same as store release):
- Experimental tab - You can now play youtube videos directly to the frame. Try it with your favorite streaming service...it supports hundreds. Please keep in mind the videos must be publically accessible, but youtube, vimeo, and facebook have all worked for me
- Play full videos, repeat short videos and video zoom are all working
- Playlist enhancements to be more responsive
- Discreet on/off buttons to make controlling the screen less of a 'guess'
- Performance fixes
- APIs are now documented in the instructions section. If you're doing home automation or want to code against it, this is for you. You can now write seperate apps or automations to control the frame...not just settings but actually sending web images or video directly to it!
- Store downloads now have progress bars to help show when things are completed for downloads.
Note: There are instructions once the image is installed in the webUI, this is where the API list is currently located.
The team will sit back for a bit, let this release trickle out, and watch for any hot issues/breaks that we need to fix so we can jump on them early. We're going into planning mode for the next two releases with a goal of smaller, less complicated releases that work on fundamentals for a bit before our next big feature push.
Thank you so much for the support, we're humbled and thankful and are working hard to make this the best image/video viewer out there. We know we have some promises to fufill for features and we're working hard to make them happen!
Comments
that did the trick, thnx .unpacking in raspbian did'nt work either. ALSO the Dynaframe 2 script crashed aswell on unpacking. might be the same issue
2022-09-21 18:18:21 +0000 UTCPlease make sure to use 7zip to unpack it. I believe that the format we used to compress it may be beyond what windows is capable of. We will rectify that in the future
