“She’s just fulfilling her final purpose, Azaria,” Gabriel said, rolling his eyes. “To sacrifice the Serpent of Eden was meant to inspire! To uplift! Give the Host a pep in their steps, so to speak, for the apocalypse. Taking out the incarnation of original sin is supposed to be a good omen of Heaven’s predestined triumph over Hell!” He frowned, his nose wrinkling, “and here you’ve gone and spoiled it.” Azaria gripped the pommel of her flaming sword tighter as she took another minute step backwards, pressing Crowley even more solidly against her back. The demon made a soft sound as she curled even further into herself, trying to seem as small as possible, the rags that remained of her clothing doing very little to cover her nakedness. With her powers restrained, it was the best she could do. Azaria widened her stance, hoping that it would both strengthen her posture, but also allow for her skirt to hide Crowley just a bit more. “You won’t harm her,” Azaria declared. “Not now and not ever again.” Gabriel snarled. “Get out of the way, Azaria!” “No.” Azaria raised the sword in a defensive pose. “Take another step and it will be your last, Gabriel.”
