So after watching P48 and P101 back to back (started earlier this week, finished yesterday) I now see we have a new girl group competition show so I'm excited. I went straight to episode 1 and skipped the PR episode. I only knew of our queen from CLC being on this show so other people like Bora and Dayeon (spelling?) from P48 were cool to see. As for what I think about the show: 1. The first performances seem way better than those of P101 and P48. Boombayah, Pop/Stars and Crazy still stick out to me as I'm writing this. 2. Because of these performances, I'm definitely going to check out the full performance videos which I didn't plan to beforehand unless I had a lot of extra free time. 3. The thing with Yaning and Yujin.... to me it felt like banter, but then again I know nothing about Yaning or what type of person she is. (Reading some comments in different places makes me feel like she is very controversial) Either way Yujin handled it like the queen that she is and the C-Groups performance wasn't bad but it's nothing in comparison to CLC. 4. The show leaves off with Yujin crying so I'm going to go watch episode 2 now to avoid any possible spoilers of her killing it/making a mistake. 5. Sunmi and Tiffany are absolutely radiant queens and make this show better. 6. I like the format, its different so in a way it's unpredictable and I like that. MNet still blows though. 7. The song choices for the auditions are so good. 8. Other than Yujin of course, I haven't really picked out a favorite besides her but I'm leaning toward the J01 girl (sorry if I got her name wrong) Hikara, she's definitely impressive. 9. For the K01 and K02 girls that didn't get the top 9 sticker, I felt like that was sus. The judges said they wanted to see improvement but my thoughts on this are that: A, how long did they get to prepare that stage, and B, how much improvement did they really expect from the number 1 and 2 of the K line? Like they did well and I feel they deserved top 9 stickers too. I think this could be MNet's bullshit trying to cause a talking point about the show.

I am weirdly rooting for Fu Yaning to some extent. Let me start off by saying that I am obviously a CHESHIRE (CLC are actually my second favorite group in all of K-Pop) and if Yaning had said what the episode 1 teaser had implied where she was making fun of CLC for not succeeding, I would have been right there with everyone being outraged. But that one line in the middle that Mnet cut is really important and to me what Yaning did was just banter, and she did it to try and hype her group up who were very nervous, and then she delivered in spades with both skill and charisma. As for her repeated use of a certain word that starts with the letter 'n' I don't love how often she used it, and how sometimes she seemed to emphasize it in lyrics, BUT to me she is saying it in the same way that edgy kids on Xbox Live say it, because it's a "forbidden word" and ooh she is saying a naughty thing. I have seen NO indication that she is racist, and I will stand and fight anyone who thinks using a word in song lyrics makes you racist. She apologized, and to me she seemed sincere and as long as she stops using it, or unless I see a clip of her actually being racist, I refuse to let her be labeled as such within my earshot. I am not saying people have to vote for her (in general I dislike pressuring anyone to vote for anyone) but I also think she is not being represented fairly at all, and she seems super talented, confident, and charismatic.

I'm not defending her behaviour in any way but: It was measured by their perfomance on that day and correct me if i'm wrong, but the whole racism controversy about her came to public after filming this. Maybe Mnet wasn't aware of it or knowing how shady Mnet can be, they were aware of it and didn't care, because every casting/survivalshow needs it badguy or badgirl. This was in Produce 101 in the beginning with Chanmi and her arrogant behaviour an the one who claimed all the positions for herself in the first competition because she picked the song (sorry but i don't remember her name). In Produce 48 there were in the beginning the former trainee of YG who had an behaviour like she could walk in water nut barely managed to swim in the first competition. Mnet needs drama, because drama gets you viewers.

I'm sure they are tbh! We'll get to see a lot more of them really soon, so I'm reserving judgement on pretty much all the trainees haha

the twins are actually really good dancers, they just didn’t really get to showcase it with the song they picked. if you search on twitter, you’ll be able to find videos of them dancing really well. a lot of people think they were pretending to not be that strong to have a redemption arc later on
