El Indon Concept - Lazulists

This was an idea I toyed with for El Indon but never implemented completely. You might remember those throwaway lines about blue people in the southlands. That refers to this.

Back when the story was going to involve multiple different religions, and not just the Guilds, one of these other faiths was going to be the Lazulists. As the Guilds find their faith in craftsmanship and industry, the Lazulists find it in precious treasures and fineries, like the lapis lazuli that decorates everything in their temples. Because one faith worships through labor and the other faith worships through wealth, they would form a certain natural partnership - their philosophies and virtues were at odds, but their societies could provide for each other.

I cut the Lazulists from the plot for the same reason I cut the southlands entirely - they made the story too big. I had the idea that Blue would somehow end up in the arms of the Lazulists, and complicate things, but that would make the plot veer way, way off course. Certain elements of their design remain in the story, but I doubt they'll make anything more than a cameo appearance.
