Oh wow that's really interesting!! I don't read that many light novels but I am actually tempted to check this one out (Black Clover has definitely got me hooked haha) I'm glad the characters were added to the manga because I thought they were great.

They do this in the manga were small panel will be shown with various events from the past. It's one of the more emotional episodes. I normally cry when Asta does when watching it. This is pretty much the episode that sets up the next major arc. The next two episodes though are part of a light novel The Book of the Black Bulls is the first Black Clover light novel written by series creator Yuki Tabata and illustrated by Johnny Onda. I bring this up because in youtube comments you'll hear that it was fan fiction or some other stupid stuff concerning these two episodes. Yet, that isn't the case. It wasn't in the manga, but in this light novel that Tabata wrote and illustrated by another person, but he wanted it included in the Anime. The characters were later introduced to the Manga after the Light Novel had been written.
