Hellooo!

Now, here's one I could really get my teeth stuck into. A very complex composition, with three main performances, plus two background people. Lots of layers to deal with and a prop to think about. What I love about Viggle is how effortlessly is sorts out the three-dimensional nature of the hats, for example. That would have been a huge headache with EbSynth, as is any turn of the head, but provided we don't get too precious about the loss of absolute likeness when the head turns, I think it works.

I had to do an awful lot of clean-up on this for a variety of reasons but I'm reasonably happy with it. I've devised my own version of VidFIRE to try to smooth out some of that stutter. I achieved this by stripping out every other frame and then feeing the 2x speed video into After Effects and telling it to frame blend it back to normal speed. This generated replacement intermediate frames which were a better match for the adjacent frames than what I'd removed. I might try stripping out two-thirds of the frames next time, although it's going to end up compromising some of the lip movements.

I'm going to post a very brief "making of" in a couple of days.
