BONUS EPISODE: "Woodstock '99: Peace, Love and Rage"

We actually watched both major documentaries! We have differing thoughts on them. Also, shoutout to our audio producer Paw who tells us that he did not know there was a Woodstock after Woodstock '94

On that coda: Would have liked to have seen them ask, "Would you want your kids to go to this?" in addition to asking if they would do it again. I expect there would be very different answers.

I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the other Woodstock concerts compared to this. Maybe in the future could watch documentary(s) on 1969 and 1994 concerts.

I felt I needed to watch both the HBO and Netflix docs before listening and I'm glad I did. Overall I think the Netflix one does a better job. Much more detailed, a lot more interviews with the staff, no critics analyzing it in hindsight (yes Wesley Morris usually talks cluelessly), interesting coda with the folks who went there saying they actually had fun. And also the most revelatory moment: Maybe the musician interaction to blame is actually Wyclef Jean telling the audience to throw their water bottles at him while playing the Hendrix version of "The Star Spangled Banner" (and then I think lighting his guitar and a Fugees LP on fire)

Gal Hazor

It sounds like I learned more about this event than if I had actually watched the documentary.

This was a phenomenal bonus episode, you guys should def drop it as a free podcast during the upcoming break

Johnny Riches

That was actually really informative! I lived through 99 but didn't really remember the associated Woodstock.

Lina just (mostly) unironically used the term “woke nonsense”. Shit just got real…

kaiserdan

Todd saw The Transplants? I thought I was the only one who remembers that band and "Diamonds and Guns".
