NEW POLL: "Brown Eyed Girl" vs. "Happy Together"
Added 2024-04-25 16:15:31 +0000 UTCNow here's some simple love songs that have stood the test of time! Maybe '60s pop was as good as the Boomers say it is. Which is the better pop song of the late '60s, Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" or The Turtles' "Happy Together"?

I think I’d probably like Brown Eyed Girl if I was sitting in a hot tub on vacation but Happy Together used to put me in a good mood when I was up at 5 in the morning scrubbing toilets.

Somehow the music underneath being complex and not straightforwardly cheery just makes the effect even worse, to where it sounds soulless and a bit creepy.

I tried to imagine if these words came from the mouth of another man. But there's just no way to avoid it: Van Morrison has a terrible voice. It's like a cat in heat drinking lager
