January 2018

Hello everyone! Sorry for the dearth of content towards the end of last year, but I intend to make up for that this year.

I uploaded 7 new videos in January – finishing the gradient editor series, adding a two-part 'programming practice' series on making a sliding block puzzle game, and starting a Bézier curve editor series.

The main thing I'm struggling with at the moment is balancing ongoing series with fresh content. I know it's terrible of me to leave viewers (who have invested considerable time in a series) in the lurch for months on end, but I keep making the mistake of starting new projects before finishing the recording of old ones. I'll work harder at fixing that this year, and as part of this I'll likely be shying away from longer projects (~6+ episodes) in the future, or at least split them up into 'seasons' so that I can make new stuff in between.

The short term plan (Feb to early March) is to upload the last two episodes of the curve editor series, and then return (at long last) to finish the RPG series. I also have a short vid planned on creating a simple AI to steer a car around a racetrack. Will just be extremely basic neural net/evolutionary stuff, but I think it should be fun :)

After that I've got to figure out what to do with other loose ends, but more on that later.

Thank you all for the continued support, I appreciate it so much.

It works great! Im testing it and it works very well. Thank you. I must ask for the rotation that happens when my "side view" character end up being rotated for 180 deg instead of just flipX. How can i just flipX my sprite renderer that is chid object inside moving parent object without parent rotation? i Would like to have this things separated like "reverse direction" and "flip player sprite". But i will keep this version also. Great stuff for learning :)

Hello! The script I wrote isn't that great because I just wanted to get it working for the demo, and planned on rewriting it when I included it in the series, which never happened. However, I've uploaded it here for you to take a look at: <a href="https://pastebin.com/FpXPiRjw" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://pastebin.com/FpXPiRjw</a>

Hello Sebastian, can you provide us script that moves cube/player on that spline that we created? Like that red cube from the first video, it will help me a lot.

have been enjoying all your videos and if you take a break from time to time, i won't complain or stop pledging. We are all humans and things happen or we just need a little break to keep it fresh. I have really enjoyed and learned a lot from the editor stuff since i have been very lazy about that my self in the past. haha. so thanks for teaching and inspire! And as always, keep up the good work!

Racetrack AI sounds great! Any possibility you might be able to cater for a beginner/intermediate audience without dumbing it down too much? For the most part I find your videos quite accessible (hence why I pledge) which is a great point of difference over other tutorials that leave the less experienced programmer behind. Really looking forward to the shorter projects. I find them great concise examples to go back to when I need to recall something for a new project. Thanks, Seb!
