Also Anika Noni Rose is Lorelle, the third member of the group, she’s Princess Tiana in Princess and the Frog (Also had a role in Power lol) This movie is one of my favorites, EVERYBODY did their thing

2024-05-13 23:20:42 +0000 UTCI live in Denmark, but when this movie came out I lived in the US. I saw Dreamgirls and I just remember the whole movie theater erupt in applause when Jennifer Hudson sang “I’m telling you”. That would NEVER happen in DK. Goosebumps all over!

2024-05-13 18:42:23 +0000 UTCThe story is a very loose retelling of the story of Motown. Diana Ross and Motown founder Barry Gordy were married for a while. Some of the pictures from the photo shoot scene really look like Diana Ross. The knit cap Eddie Murphy wore in the recording studio is really reminiscent of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" period. Gaye really did have to fight with Barry Gordy to get that record made. This was a pleasure to watch again!

Jennifer definitely stole the show, and her Oscar was well deserved. As others have said, Eddie did sing!! He came through with the vocals!! I thought Bey did a fantastic job purposely dialing back her vocals to channel Diana Ross. Also, my favorite part of this video was hands-down Charlie Puth unexpectedly catching strays. I’m bored of Kendrick & Drake’s beef. We need Michael vs. Charlie!! 😂

This was Jennifer Hudson's first acting role and she did phenomenal. She stole the whole movie and even won an Oscar for best supporting actress for this role. You're Gonna Love Me and Listen always give me chills. Such amazing moments. And yes, Eddie did all his own singing in this movie. He was up for an Oscar too, but sadly didn't win.
