Build 07.24.20 release notes

Hey everyone,

Finally another dev build has been released, this one is spicier than the last one.

First of all we now have all the hot CG art scenes for Arane's Event 2 in her story. 

A couple new original background art. You will also see a couple of new locations which only have sketch background art, those will be commissioned to be colored soon.

And lastly a brand new combat system. This is just the first version of it so it has just the very basics of combat and party, but it adds a lot of new stuff like a new Mercenary occupation, new Mercenary outfits, new stats for HP, Exp, Combat Level, Attack, Defense, etc, and this opens up a lot of new opportunities for future characters and events.

I want to slowly start introducing all these kind of more fantasy driven elements such as new locations related to combat and training, and maybe some new races such as elves! Who doesn't like elves right?

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this new build and let me know your feedback. 

Oh also, before I leave you the full release notes, this month there's another reward for my dear patrons, an exclusive alternative art piece of one of the CGs for Arane, I will be posting it very soon.


Release Notes


+Added attack and defense stats to the player's stats.

+Added the concept of abilities to the player's properties.

+Added the concept of equipment to the player's properties.

+Added the concept of party to the player's properties.


+Added the concept of abilities to the character's properties.

+Added the concept of weapon to the character's properties.

+Added the hp and energy stats to the character's stats.


+Added an abilities database.

+Added a weapons database.

+Added an enemies database.


+Added a new VFX system to play visual spritesheet effects.


+Added a first version of a classic combat system.

+Added a combat area system. Locations setup with a combat area may trigger a random battle.

+Added a combat area in the Forest (this is the only combat area within the city for now)

+The combat system allows the player to attack with their party using a regular attack, or abilities that consume energy, or use items.


+Added a new party system that allows you to ask Mercenary characters to join or leave your party using the Ask option when talking to them.

+The new party system makes the characters in your party follow you through the world.


+Added a VFX to each ability.

+Added abilities and drops to the enemies.


+For now, if everyone's dead in the party, no further battle encounters will happen.


+Added new music soundtracks for battle.

+Starting a battle now plays a battle music soundtrack.


+The Player can now use the "Item" command to use an item on a target, it applies the item effects to the target as appropriate.


+Finishing a battle may reward the player with experience points, money and items as configured per enemy.


+Now stats may have a max value (such as max HP, max MP, etc)


+Added a new occupation "mercenary" for characters that are able to fight.


+Characters with the Mercenary occupation will always have the Combat activity.


+Introduced Subactivities that link to Activities, for example the Combat activity has "Martial Artist" and "Blademaster" as the linked subactivities or subclasses.


+Mercenary characters may use their combat outfits as casual outfits.

+If a character is in the party, it will always wear their combat outfit.


+Mercenary characters may start with a weapon of their class.


+Added outfit for young female Martial Artist

+Added outfit for young female Blademaster

+Added outfit for mature female Martial Artist


+Added a new icon on the characters UI to display if a character is in your party or not.

+Added the HP and Combat Level stats to the player.

+Added Experience to the player stats.


+Added two new sound clips to use in the combat attacks.


+The Inventory UI now has the ability to equip and unequip a weapon.


+Added a new item "hp potion".


+Added a new original BG for Arane's House street.


+Added a new location 'College Cooking Classroom' with a sketched BG.

+Added a new location 'Arane's House Kitchen' with a sketched BG.

+Arane's house door now leads to the kitchen first instead of the living room.


+Updated "Arane's Taste Event" to start in the cooking classroom instead.


+Updated the SaveManager to restore missing data per character from new build updates when loading a previously saved game from an old version. (This won't work all the time, there is a chance loading a game from a previous build may not work)


+Added support for hats on the characters' heads.

+Hats have the ability to act as an extension of a shirt (for example sweater with a hoodie).

+No hats have been added yet to the characters.
