The reality of many of the DEI policies was/are anti meritocratic in essence though. I don't think it should be that difficult to seed that ground. And it doesn't mean you can't still argue some of those policies were doing more good than harm overall. The current US cabinet is mainly a result of democracy not meritocracy so its not a great example to use.

2025-05-03 23:20:49 +0000 UTCVery annoying that it's taken as read now that affirmative action measures or DEI is "anti meritocracy". I'm under the impression that it was always about ensuring that people who are actually qualified, but don't fit the image of a qualified person (i.e., a straight, usually white, usually guy) have a fighting chance to get that opportunity. Hearing Sabine talk about restoring the glorious "meritocracy" when the US cabinet is currently populated with the least qualified ass-kissers in American history is just wild.
