Update on Doctor K Decoding

For those of you who do not follow the chat, we thought an update was in order on our next decoding episode. As the title suggests we are looking at the psychiatrist/streamer/mental health advocate, Alok Kanojia AKA Dr. K.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be a little more consuming than we planned. We were originally focusing on his interview with Dr. Mike and the content we previously posted but in preparing we ended up watching a lot more material and it ballooned in a way we had not fully intended. Normally in a full-length decoding, we have around 50-60 clips with Dr. K we had closer to 140.

Also, the clips fell into various different categories, it now seems likely this will be a two or three part series. We realised this after recording 2 hrs and recognising that our initial approach for a single episode was too ambitious. So we now have a plan for three episodes as follows:

1. Dr. K, CAM advocacy, and his solo presentation of Ayurvedic medicine (based primarily on this older video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BEdhS9-cno).
2. Dr. K debating Ayurvedic medicine with Dr. Mike (based on the recent video we posted).
3. Dr. K and online (non)therapy interviews (based on a variety of interviews, including Reckful and less sensational content, and his video on Ethics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4yT1mPc5kY).

We realise this is slightly unusual but we do think there is justification and that his content warrants the division because there are different issues at play. In a certain sense, it is a fitting end to the streamer season because of the unusual confluence of dynamics. We will try to release episodes more quickly than usual to befit the thematic connections and so we can move on from the topic.

We have recorded 2.5hrs of episode 1 and will likely finish it tomorrow and post over the weekend. Episode 2 will probably come next week and episode 3 the following week. If necessary, we will take a break somewhere in the middle.
