Shedding Light on the DarkHorse: A Mini Review

Hey everyone,

The content here is likely to be familiar to you if you listened to the last bonus episode but as you might notice we are experimenting with formatting.

Andy Day - the host of the Beyond Synth podcast - listens to the show and had some ideas about improving the visual content. You can see the outcome of his effort attached.

We are both extremely impressed with what Andy did (it is obviously a lot of work) but would love to get your feedback on what you think.

We currently do not use the YouTube channel for anything beyond occasionally posting older interviews. Mostly because we don't have time or the necessary skills to do video production.

And yes just to be clear this is a mini decoding of some recent DarkHorse content, specifically: Bret and Heather 193rd DarkHorse Podcast Livestream: The Reactionary Clap Trap.

Is speed dating romantic 🤷🏽‍♀️

Laura Reinger

I live fairly close to ‘the border’. Probably a two hour drive to where Elron did his Twitter livestream. (Explained to the viewer, as if…) Some areas are amenable to man made barriers—walls, fencing, etc. Some are not. It’s a complicated issue but rest assured Mousk spread misinfo. It’s not a new problem. Not even a new wrinkle in an old problem

Kgar

Yes he’s editing ‘the way the kids do it these days’😎

Kgar

Small note on the thumbnail for the video. It looks like you are on their pocasts as guests .

Colin Fardey

The video is looking good. I'll continue to listen with my podcast app though. I'm getting too much screen time already.

Roland Weber

I don’t think you’re being an apologist just sharing what I took Matt to be referring to in his comments.

Christopher Kavanagh

It's quite funny to be addressed like a trump wall apologist. I assure you I'm not. My issue is with your imprecise presentation of the matter (no wall, some wall makes a difference). It weakens the whole argument, which irks me. But that seems to be my irk. So, carry on, good sirs.

Christoph

It might be a liberal talking point but it’s still true. Trump’s admin built some new walls but much less than he promised (repeatedly) and a lot of the construction related to reinforcing existing barriers. So yes his admin did build some more border walls but nothing like what Trump promised. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46824649.amp

Christopher Kavanagh

I didn't listen to the DarkHorse episode. So maybe they claimed that the wall is finished. Then I would find it fitting to laugh about them talking about a non-complete wall as if it was completed. If they didn't, what you said is inaccurate and easily decoded as typical liberal talking points plus unearned snark. And IMO the inaccuracies distract from more important general points, like their cloaking culture war fuel as thoughtful conversations. (This here is meant as constructive criticism btw. Cheers :)

Christoph

There was some border wall construction but nothing like what Trump promised. I’d also expect there has been ongoing border protection construction under almost every administration.

Christopher Kavanagh

The Weinsteins are such a miserable, paranoid, illogical couple. That YouTube show is where all joy and happiness go to die. The Decoding is a nice quality presentation, though. I liked it!

Mike Nelson

Your I the DTG 🐇 🕳 at least :-)

Emma

Concerning the wall: Sounds a bit like you are suggesting no wall has been built at all. That's what I thought too. But I was surprised to learn that more than 400 miles of wall/barrier have been built since Trump's election [Arguably, most of it is replacing older barriers]. And it is fair to say that they have effects, though not the ones promised: Blown up mountain sides from the construction and closed off paths for wildlife. There is a short documentary from the new yorker on YT about that.

Christoph

Appreciate the feedback. I think some of the switching is to mask edits. But aesthetics is all just personal preferences.

Christopher Kavanagh

The sad thing is that I’m their same age. Maybe I’m in a rabbit hole as well. If I am, someone get me out.

Linda Sears

Seeing the clips and the tweets is really nice and helpful. Minor negative points: A bit too much stuff going on with the moving geometrical stuff in the background, the moving highlights on the frames and the parts where your screens are positioned diagonally. Not a fan of the aesthetics, and don't see what it adds.

Christoph

It is and that applies to me too. We won’t replace any podcast content but might just fire the videos over to Andy.

Christopher Kavanagh

Part of that is because Andy is masking edits!

Christopher Kavanagh

Haha, also love the surprised eyebrows from the hosts when listening to Bret xD

Lee Kebum

I'm positive to the new layout with images/video from the content and tweets that you talk about! Makes it easier to follow along. One point of improvement though: the rapid cutting between fullscreen and a side-by-side view when the two of you are talking was slightly disorienting and hard to follow. I prefer sticking to side-by-side to also be able to see the reaction of the listener :)

Vaccines *can't* *melt* *spike* *proteins*. SHEEP UP WAKLES

This is great: Not sure I would sit down and watch one of the longer episodes, but I would definately watch more of the Mini decodes in this format. Well done Andy!!! Question: Is Matt saying these two weirdos ARE or ARE NOT narcissists?

LaserRange

I think the video format is pretty cool! Although at the same time, I'm more of a podcast listener/multitasker so I would mostly just listen to the podcast. Also, I love Beyond Synth which I discovered when I listened to Chris's episode on it. Isn't the host's name Andy Last?

brianshmrian

I thought the video was very well produced. I particularly liked the intro music and visuals of all the gurus talking. Also I enjoyed watching your facials while watching the videos of B&H talking in the third screen. Poor Brett though. I feel like watching him instead of just listening to him makes me much more sympathetic to him. Old people can get crazy like this. I see it in my own family where sadly the older generation has mostly gone down the rabbit hole! To the horror of the younger generation.

Emma

I googled Bret and Eric Weinstein's age after this because I'd never actually seen them before. I thought they were pathetic men my age but the reality is so much worse.

Sarah Tippishly

Yeah they’re horrible. But so much fun to hate-watch.

Bertrand Sperling

It’s Bret and Heather. My bad. Bret and Heather Banana-brains.

Eddy

Seems so. It’s wild to actually watch Bret (or is it Brett) and the cohost (is that his wife?) ((and is her name Hilary??)) face-act their smug sanctimonious claptrap. Do they ever watch themselves perform this bullshit? They might stop if they ever did.

Eddy

Is it exactly same content as the audio released recently?
