Moon because of Covid travel restrictions, so she had to cancel plans to come to Japan and he couldn't make it to Korea to do it. That's what he said in an affidavit. Also, the press reported on a lawyers group who gave a press conference exposing the problems with Unification Church, and ANN (if I recall) gave a long explanation on the Unification Church onboarding process, which is sly and very cult-y (a la Scientology). Another tidbit is that one of Abe's once-closest aids, and now a congress person, was actually a member of sorts of the Unification Church. Although it was only a few years ago that Yamagami on a anit-Moonie website actually took the position that the Abe administration shouldn't be conflated with the evils of the Unification Church. But later he decided that Abe was the right target because of how he (and presumably his grandfather) enabled the Church. My perception in watching the news and commentary is that the press wasn't doing so well covering the cult aspects of the Moonies, but has been pretty darn aggressive the past week. Yes, originally the name wasn't released, and it felt a bit like it was the police who hadn't released it but a bit vague. But once it was, which was only after about a day or so, the press I watch (ANN and the like) were fully on it.
