Very Bad Gurus *Feedback Thread*

Hi everyone,

So I'm sure you noticed that we released the Very Bad Wizard's crossover episode. Some of you will have heard that content a while back but hopefully the intro/outro segments still proved entertaining.

I'm putting a post up here in case anyone had any comments or questions specific to the episode.

On the main feed our next releases will be:

1.  Jaron Lanier Decoding.
2. Mickey Inzlicht interview.
3. Lex Fridman Decoding.
4. Nathan Allebach interview.

Something might jump the line but that's the plan for the next few weeks.

Cheers!

It's AN Einstein Rosen bridge not a Einstein etc...

Also truly loved hearing you guys review The Master, one of my favourite films of the past few years, largely due to its frustrating nature. I might be the minority, but it was really a lot of fun.

I don't listen to VBW, but the discussion was good! Always fun to mix things up. I'm not very picky with podcasts; if I enjoy the hosts as well as the general theme, I tend to enjoy more informal/exploratory episodes as much as more focused episode. Tamler was a bit of whiplash. I really had trouble with him at first, but he won me over by the end with his film critique.

Weird pre-emptive twitter block that achieves sweet fuck all. Wonder how he’s going getting that interview with Putin? If he got an interview with Putin, DtG would literally have to decode it twice.

I loved this episode, I've been waiting what feels like forever for it to drop. Perfect combo. I was dying when Tamler was introduced, nice effects.

Yeah, he grasps as straws with this one. I'm sure some of it is a legitimate belief these are real and some of it is that most reasonable people laugh in his face making him a little defensive. In this crazy world I found there are 5 3rd rails in polite conversation that should be avoided: politics, religion, ghosts, psychics, and astrology.

"Well actually", it's Bifröst :)

Sorry the “rainbow bridge” is called the “Bitfrost” don’t want to offend anyone.

Jason Trock

Yeah I don’t listen to VBW but Tamler is absolutely channeling Arthur C. Clarke, which Natalie Portman's character quotes in the first Thor film, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." And in my minds eye Tamler is just larping as an asgardian explaining the rainbow bridge could be a magical trans world transportation device or it could be a Einstein-Rosen Bridge! I just covered phenomenology and a Kenneth Branagh directed film In the same Patreon post… could do this :-)

I love VBW and it's how I discovered DTGs... But man do I find Tamler's argument ad-populum ghosts-of-the-gaps arguments frustrating. It's like he doesn't think it's possible to to simultaneously say "I don't believe there is strong enough evidence to warrant believing in ghosts" while also acknowledging that we don't know everything and might be wrong. So frustrating to then hear him posture that he's the open minded one. The reason to believe something is when there is sufficient evidence. Doesn't stop me from exploring new things or being open minded at all. I just apportion my beliefs to priors and update as new evidence like a good Bayesian.

Thank you for holding Tamler accountable 🙏🏼
