Audio version of Interview with Liam Bright *UNEDITED*

This took longer than I intended, apologies for that!

And for those who didn't see the video description:

"It's been a long time coming but we finally cornered the internet's favourite philosopher Liam Bright. It is not everyday you get to have a wide ranging discussion with Leverhulme Prize recipient so we tried to make the most of it.

We cover a bunch of topics including how to use Twitter well, just what is logical positivism and why Liam thinks DtG is the final embodiment of their virtues, why institutions are always completely right and should never be questioned, and how revolutionary politics are a non-starter."

Want to get out of the culture war space for a while but if we cover Sargon it is probably a good option. I'm not sure we 'empowered' Williams though, his trajectory has remained pretty stable.

Christopher Kavanagh

Having empowered Williamson to become everything he persuaded you he wasn't perhaps you should review the CW/Sargon episode. Sargon of Akkad deserves the DTG treatment as well. So two for one. Especially as CW far from nodding along to S of A CW spouts some absolute Meninist claptrap.

i'm just being an asshole though -- loving the episode, my two favorite podcasters

"Does Bob have a big following specifically focusing on his spiritual worldview?" -- Depends what you mean by big following I guess. I mean, how many people even HAVE 'spiritual worldviews' that promote? Takes a fair bit of chutzpah to even get to that level. Mainly it's just funny that he says 'there aren't many people who are willing to sit down to listen about my worldview' when he literally has had people sit in a lecture hall and listen to him talk about his spiritual worldview for hours (and presumably was invited / paid to do this). obviously people do care

Mikerpiker

Will do so now!

Christopher Kavanagh

Does Bob have a big following specifically focusing on his spiritual worldview? I honestly haven’t seen it. Giving a well attended lecture series is not quite the same as being Jordan Peterson. His consistent output as of late is also primarily foreign policy focused. The point about humility is that Bob’s seems genuine, obviously he has a following and thinks his opinions are worth sharing but you won’t see that kind of downplaying statement from most gurus.

Christopher Kavanagh

"yeah there aren't that many people who are willing to sit down to listen about my worldview" says bob, when he is literally filling lecture halls for a 5 part series on his 'spiritual worldview' >.< and chris and matt just buying into this false humility when they'd call it out with others. their bias is showing!

Mikerpiker

yeah i came here looking to post about Wright too! haven't finished listening but the whole schtick about 'we want to do Bob but where could we possibly find material' -- um, maybe one of the million recording's he's done about his 'spiritual worldview?' like the " five lectures outlining a new spiritual worldview" he did in 2016? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Trmv1M_7VAU&t=11s You can't get bob to stop talking about his spiritual worldview!

Mikerpiker

Just listened to the Robert Wright ep. Which I have comments on (not bad ones). But can't make there here, bc you haven't posted the ep here?
