Interview with Timbah on Toast *UNEDITED*
Added 2022-02-18 12:06:09 +0000 UTCWe have been busy beavers lately with our interviews and have now generated quite a backlog but we would be remiss if we did not share another recent recording this time with the great Timbah.
For anyone not familiar Timbah makes excellent YouTube Docu-series that focus primarily on disreputable characters. He's got a series on Dave Rubin, one on James O'Keefe, and recent one on Tim Pool. The production values are great and so is his analysis.
It very much parallels our efforts on Decoding the Gurus so we were very much looking forward to this chat and it did not disappoint. Hope you guys like it too!
No video this time I'm afraid!
EDIT: Apparently Matt sounded like an alien and out of sync so re-uploaded the raw! Hopefully ok now.

I was physically unable to listen to the Eric Weinstein - James O’Keefe interview. Those two “debating” everything they agree on and constantly praising each other is just too much.

2022-04-27 13:31:45 +0000 UTCI think Timbah’s sharp and knows the criticisms of Sam, I think he just weighs things differently.

2022-02-19 00:35:43 +0000 UTC1/2 way through. tbh timbah seems like nice guy and talented at what he does but sheesh Sam Harris fanboy was not on my list.. and think he likes Eric more than he's letting on.. though he hopefully he'll reflect on your multiple examples of Sams ,in the interests of generosity, recurring 'blind spots' , which coincidentally all lie in one direction 🤔

2022-02-18 23:11:24 +0000 UTC^^Agree. Why ruin your argument by "presupposing that which is to be demonstrated" as a German bloke with a famous beard used to say. Playing to the gallery of your chosen faction and virtue signalling that you're onside is dumb. Also really agree with Timbah that a lot of the really genius jokes you make during the writing process have to be reviewed the day after, in a more sober frame of mind and are generally best left on the cutting floor. My personal theory is that there's a bit of a self-hatred/overconfidence bipolarity in the writing process and that when you're in the flow of writing, you're in the overconfident "Ha, ha, ha, YES! I'm a fucking GENIUS! No one has ever been this clever before!" intoxicated state. And that you then have to go back in a more deflated, self-critical state to edit out the excesses. Dis-inhibition seems to be a requirement for most of us to overcome writer's block. But is not to be entirely trusted.

2022-02-18 21:12:22 +0000 UTCTimbah is very self aware. He's absolutely correct when he says his videos feel 'safer' to share with somebody on the right because they don't set off red flags that allow people to close the video and dimiss them as biased or lefty. I remember being vaguely positive towards James O'Keefe and his videos gently took me on a journey through hours of his history until I was amazed at my level of past credulity. But I've seen other videos that open with "JAMES O'KEEFE IS A FUCKING LIAR" or whatever and they are completely unconvincing even if they are equally correct in their overall conclusions. I think he's the GOAT in the debunking game for this reason. He seems to understand that the purpose of his videos is to move people rather than preach to the choir. The bigger your fanbase becomes the easier it is to preach and get positive feedback but then you risk no longer influencing culture but just pandering to it.
