On Jordan Peterson & Joe Rogan

Hey guys,

Just a quick note to say we will NOT be covering this episode.

We don't have any desire to become a Joe Rogan response podcast but also... there really isn't much to this conversation.

They steer clear of covid for the whole four hours. Only briefly mentioning that Bret & Heather are brave heroes.

There are some very silly segments, especially at the start relating to climate change, but they don't break much new ground that we haven't covered in earlier episodes. A lot of the conversation is also dedicated to Jordan just waffling about his pet theories concerning the Bible, Meaning, and Competency Hierarchies.

Joe is actually a bit more critical in this episode than he was with either McCullough or Malone. He seems very ready to end it in the fourth hour.

So all in all. It isn't worth our time. I know most of you are not asking for it but given that these are two stars in the Guru-sphere it might seem like an obvious choice for us but it's just not that substantial or interesting.

Look out for the edited clips online though, Jordan says some truly silly things about the Bible & it's relationship to books, climate change, and repeats the theory he developed with Bret Weinstein on trans issues that we covered before.

I would not recommend the content to anyone... unless they are a fan of Jordan's more speculative philosophical stuff. Then you will enjoy it. He gets teary around the one hour mark when discussing the mystical nature of dancing. That's probably the most insightful segment too.

Anyway, that's all!

Working on Lindsay & O'Fallon 2 for next week & will release the edited Gurometer episode on Friday. Bob Wright to come soon too (maybe this weekend depends on timing) and recording an interview with Dr. Wilson from Debunk the Funk on Monday.

Good call.

Good and understandable decision.

Maarten Wesselius

I agree, it was a sad clown show and others are doing a fine enough job of posting eye-rolling clips and commentary

Love the times when you have covered JBP or Joe Rogan, but I think it was a good call to skip this one, nothing really new here.

MaxPlan

i mean JBP doesn't sound well. like even Joe seemed to struggle with the mystery immunological curse that has afflicted the JBP clan through the generations... 'I mean Dude- you were just stressed obviously?'

Brainbiter

Really excited for your interview with Dr Wilson! I've found Debunk the Funk so helpful whilst navigating all the vaccine misinformation that keeps getting shared on social media. Look forward to seeing what conclusions the three of you come to.

Louise

Wow, that really is one cool looking guy! What am I buying and where can I get it?!

Exai

Decoding JBP once is enough. Same as JRE. It’s just more of the same. Antagonizing him on twitter however is far more interesting.

elcid

Oh thank goodness! It would have taken a month of episodes to cover four hours Rogan and JP. I have all I can stand of Rogan.

Tim Tripp

I don't think it's really possible to become a JRE response pod due to the sheer volume of content to keep up with. Maybe one day someone will invent an AI for the job.

William LEGRAIN

Poo. I just tweeted that I was looking forward to your episode on this (without reading this post). Doh!
