Official Monthly Update #1 (June 1st, 2022)
Added 2022-06-01 06:34:26 +0000 UTCSo, this newsletter was supposed to come out yesterday. I’m not sure what happened, but we’ll be doing 2 newsletters this month (one today, another at the end of June). If you want to reach out for a refund, let me know!
I’ve posted the first couple chapters of Sanctuary, a dark fantasy monster girl harem, onto here. Somehow the first chapter ended up twice as long as the second, so I’ll have some work to do there. My goal is to release the first book sometime in June. There are some specifics I went over in an update, but I’d like to touch on some of the finer details in here.
Sanctuary is going to be somewhere around 50,000 – 60,000 words. This is about 20% longer than Lights Out, which released last month.
I will be exploring character perspectives more. I won’t break any traditional harem rules, but I will bend some to enhance a better narrative experience. I will also continue to write in third person, but I have first person stuff planned for the future. The main character is human, kind of an average everyguy (I don’t like writing about overpowered, unrealistic main characters – if they turn into someone like that, it’s fine, but starting out that way is a no-go for my style).
I also think there could be more sex scenes. I did a lot of fade-to-black in Lights Out, but I think that actually hurt the story. In Sanctuary, all sex scenes happen in-chapter. There are no fade-to-blacks. There are three female main characters: an orc, a dark elf and a succubus. I tried to make each of their personalities unique. Their interactions with Blake (the main character) are better this way, at least in my opinion.
There are horror elements. If you’ve read the first and second chapter, you know there is a Eldritch-like creature attacking Blake, along with gore and violence. I wanted to raise the stakes and I think something from beyond this planet is going to do that.
Now, moving onto other projects. Lights Out 2 is in development. It will largely follow the save formula as the first novel. There are some changes, though. Fade-to-black sex scenes are no longer a thing. I’ve planned more survival scenes and the length is overall about 20% longer than the first book. The characters will have more definition, more struggle and things get very difficult for the trio as food dwindles, including an attack.
I’m not deep into Lights Out 2 yet, so I won’t go into much more detail.
But I do have a survival horror harem I’m working on. Third person, around 50k to 60k words (this is my new happy medium!). I inspired by the Resident Evil series from the 90’s and early 2000’s, and things like Dawn of the Dead (70’s). It also features a lot of base-building. I haven’t revealed the name yet, so I’ll do that now: the survival horror harem is called Aftermath.
I also have a treat for my Patrons. New, exclusive art is coming, including nudes and adult artwork. Stick around and you should see some of it soon. Some other plans include a website and merchandise, but that’s probably not going to happen until after Fall.
My apologies again for this coming out on the first of June instead of the 31st of May, I’m still not sure what happened. My guess is a power outage messed things up when I went to post. I also tend to stay up at night so maybe I wasn’t paying attention to the time. Expect another newsletter at the end of June.
I hope everyone is doing good and I can’t express how grateful I am to be supported. All of my fans, readers and Patrons make LXL’s work better and, most importantly, possible.
Take care.
