The Long Forgotten Secret of the Dead Sea

Dearest Patrons, sorry we don't produce as many videos as quickly as before. But with over 20 scripts yet to be written and us heading out tomorrow morning for yet another 3 months of filming, it's safe to say there is plenty of Rare Earth yet to come.

I'm back for the time being with a very short season in Jordan, which begins here, on a vacation day in the Dead Sea (with a bit of a throwaway episode). I thought it might be a nice palate cleanser before we head into the refugee camps that were my real destination in the country.

A sidenote: If you ever get a chance to float on a salt lake, I'd recommend taking it. Just keep an eye out for floating rocks of hydrocarbon.

With great love and respect as always,
Evan and Kata

It's just mud. People like to apply it for its alleged health benefits. They also sell them packaged as face masks and such. If it does contain the bitumen, it is within the mud's composition. Just a visual to replace visuals that don't/can't exist.

Was there actually bitumen in that urn? Whatever it was, why were you applying it to yourself?

Weird dude like me, too Evan! My son was in Israel a few years ago and went for a swim in the Dead Sea, and said the same thing, greasy water.
