Is Japan the Perfect Nation?

We filmed this episode on our last day in Okinawa. We were concerned that it might receive a lot of backlash, so we almost scrapped it. However, after a friend asked essentially the same questions discussed in the video, we decided to go ahead with it. Plus, we still had lots of footage to show.

Thank you all and please don't get too angry ;)

Is Japan the Perfect Nation?

Comments

Well and of course the americas are among a relatively few nations where the primary citizen makeup is the dispossessed, the cast outs and invaders. Criminals, slaves, the ghetto bunnies and leftovers of europe. Not exactly a healthy and wholesome bunch.

fascinating. Here's what I can't get past, WHY must we grow? Does a house have to get bigger to shelter me year after year? Does my car have to have babies every year to get me where I need to go? In all other situations growth has to be balanced with disaster! Either you stabilize and stop growing, or grow yourself into famine. Why can't we start focussing on meeting our needs instead of inflating some narcissist's bank account?

Also extremely important in Japan is its cultural and historic homogeneity and general lack of "tribalism" that is so in evidence in the USA. Shared ancestry, and history going back generations, subconsciously informs Japan's current living residents, and they can acknowledge their commonality and shared worldview with the nod of a head, a tonal inflection, a mild hand gesture. Such cannot be said of the American public. Not even close. It makes a huge difference to the fabric of society.
