NEN is go! And we're starting in reverse

Hello! And... well you know

As promised in my update, I'm pretty sure this is the zaniest video I've ever made.

https://youtu.be/bis_4MT5SSo

Now, rough captions are in-place but I need to make a thumbnail, tidy them up, and all that jazz. But it'll be some time for that. There's a "remember, remember" joke in here (which is itself a lead in to a super stretch of a reference) which I didn't even realize would make it very funny to release this on the 5th - so I'll be releasing this on the 5th!

kay bye!

I had a friend argue that backup lamps are there to warn pedestrians and other vehicles of a reversing car. I then looked up NHTSA standard 108 which governs lighting, and it referenced SAE J593c for backup lamps. That SAE standard actually does state that the purpose of backup lamps is to warn pedestrians and other drivers of a reversing vehicle.

I feel like i got a unintended shout out with the Demo of Seinna Pedestrian Warning system that was featured in video. I was the engineer part/system owner for development of the Pedestrian Warning system (We call it vehicle approaching system) for that MY year of hybrid Seinna. The sound is actually strictly regulated in North America by FMVSS141 "Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles". Which calls for using multiple frequencies to achieve the sound you hear and requires it to be specifically loud at certain speeds. Let me tell ya there was definitely struggle to keep it within requirements while making sure it was not annoying to driver and those just around vehicle.

I happen to have the exact same model of reverse alarm on a combine harvester. Except this one seems to be rated for 107 dB.

Since I know you appreciate pedantry.. you can't say half the population is worse than the average. Worse than the median, yes -- but average means mean to everyone except those deviants who insist average can mean whatever they want it to mean, and unless driver aptitude is a perfect bell curve... (in my experience, 90% of drivers are worse than the average :p)

Our Australian market Ioniq5 has quite a different backup noise, much more of a BOng, will attempt to take some video for you soon! Does still have the angel farts for slow movement though :)

Me:No Effort November? But that just ended... OH MY GOD IT'S NOVEMBER AGAIN!

The Ford Mach-E makes a similar "meeping" noise in reverse. Like the Hyundai, it's not overly loud, but it's definitely recognizable as a backing beep. Also similarly, the backup light is pathetic, but at least it's ideally positioned for the backup camera.
