And now... coffee makers!

Specifically, the cheap kind.

You may notice that this video is pretty long for a video on coffee makers. Well. Lemma tell you a story. You see, one day, I was poking around on the Interwebs when I came acro-

OK, I suppose it's best to just watch it!

Coming your way soonish will be the entire taste test segment. I will slap that together with minimal editing and make it exclusive for y'all. But I wanted this part out first.

And now... coffee makers!

I'm drinking the K-Cups right now. Sorry for being that guy. LOL

Bialetti is the big brand in Europe, Italian design and all. They used to be exclusively aluminium but you can find some stainless steel nowadays. I had a Spanish brand (the brand is no longer legible) which was really good but the overpressure valve just gave up, revealing a very bad design... It lasted about 10 years.

If you end up buying and talking about Moka Pots, consider buying from this place (unless you're going reused/ebay), I ordered a loud weird burr grinder from them as well as a perfect replacement carafe for my little French press. They fund water projects with every purchase. https://grosche.ca/product-category/coffee-gear/espresso/

Nice! But what about Italian moka stove tops? I've used one all my life and it is convenient and fast and good... On the other hand, my grandmother made coffee similar to... Well I guess similar to Turkish coffee. She would mix powder and water and basically cook it over the stove, pour it through a cloth filter... And it was very smooth

We have a burr grinder, electric kettle, and an insulated steel french press which we use with cafe Bustelo to make very good coffee consistently. I like that the coffee oils make it to the cup and I never have to turn the pot off before it burns the coffee.

I enjoy trying different brewing devices - hot or cold - but my tastes aren't quite so (whatever that word is you kept saying instead of "sophisticated") and I've never had a problem with drip coffee makers. They produce a totally reasonable cup of coffee. I do like French press, Aeropress, and cold-brew, but nothing beats the convenience of a drip maker. I have one that has a vacuum-insulated carafe and no hot plate so it keeps the coffee warm without ruining it. Did I say "nothing" beats the convenience of a drip maker? I'm sorry, I meant "nothing except Starbucks Via instant coffee packets." They're REALLY good compared to any other instant coffee. Two of them in a 12-ounce cup of water makes a cup that's at least as good as anything I've had from a drip maker, and it takes even less time. I prefer my coffee about 120Β°F, so I just use hot tap water. The only down side is cost, but I buy "expired" ones in bulk on eBay and they're still fine a year or two after their best-by date.

Will we be covering anything like the Bunn speed brew style? I know it’s similar to the standard mr coffee with the exception of the hot water tank

Fauxsisticated 🀣🀣 It must be a grind to come up with these! πŸ˜‰ Or was this simply a slipup?

I use an all-glass Chemex with an electric kettle, though I use pre-ground coffee because I'm lazy (and because nice coffee grinders are expensive). The reason I got the Chemex originally had nothing to do with flavor, though: I got a French press way back when because it was easier to thoroughly clean than a drip coffeemaker, but I had it explode boiling water on me one time, so I got a Chemex instead (since it's less likely to break while in use). I initially had the Chemex with the wooden handle, but I accidentally broke it (not while using it), and with the replacement I got an all-glass model instead. One of the advantages with the all-glass model is that it, too, is even easier to clean, and if you have a full-size dishwasher you can stick it in there after every single time you use it! I do use a hotplate to keep the Chemex warm, but it's only like 80 watts or something, so it doesn't keep the coffee warm indefinitely so much as it makes it cool down a bit more slowly. As a plus, it's also not a fire hazard!

That old 70s Mr. Coffee has A FACE. I'm sure this was deliberate to make this otherwise unprepossessing appliance "friendly", but I'm glad we didn't have them in the UK back then. 3-year-old me would have been terrified.

Now time to test an espresso machine. (:

I have a coffee maker with an insulated carafe so my coffee stays hot all day without having to have a "burner" to keep it hot.

What countries don't use coffee machines? I'm from The Netherlands, and I've never met anyone who drinks instant coffee except when their machine is broken or they are on vacation, and from what I've witnessed on holiday, they all have regular coffee there too. Just curious to know because I've never even thought about it.
