Finally! A new video - the Fisher DAC-145
Added 2020-08-18 16:41:37 +0000 UTC
Good day!
https://youtu.be/bxN2JSMpvCo
I've been taking some time off this month (largely because I adopted a cat!) so I've been a little slow-going with the whole video thing. But I've made something that I think you'll really like. I've had this device for some months now, and it's a weird one. And I think you'll see why from the thumbnail.
I'm doing another shorter turnaround on this one and plan to have it public tomorrow. Largely because I've got a little secret. Followers of Tom Scott have probably seen the new game show he's put out - Disconnected. Well... you might see a familiar face on that show pretty soon!
For the immediate future, though, I hope you enjoy this!
Have you seen the B&O BeoSound 9000 6-CD player? I remember watching a documentary about how B&O spent a lot of time getting the mechanical mechanism "feeling right" in their devices.

PLEASE. NEVER. CALL THIS. A TAPE. You heathens. It is a CASSETTE tape.

Watched the Disconnected episode last night! It was good fun :)

Just saw you on Disconnected. Did you ever imagine you'd be known as 'the guy with the toaster video' when you started out on YouTube?

If I may make a request- Could we get a video on the history and technology of 8-track? You mentioned in your cassette video that 8-track had some weird flaws, and I'd love to learn about it from you, the very best explainer of dead media formats.

Another excellent episode, and congrats on winning your episode of Disconnected!

Beautiful device. My grandpa's Hi-Fi (he was always an early adopter) had a different setup for the CDs (I believe the cassette tape deck was in the same device). Gotta love quality turntables, though.

You gotta show us a front loading record player
2020-08-19 22:49:38 +0000 UTC

Congrats on being adopted as Reed's very own hooman! You'll have to share pics (or at least sneak in a clip after patreon credits?) because the internet always needs moar cats.
Also, holy ballz Tom Scott and you in the same video!? YES!!! Will definitely be looking out for that vid!

The market is for people who own records but their house was destroyed in a fire, so they need a new record player and CD player, but during they fire they were out with their record collection - probably at some middle-aged persons rave or something.

Somewhere in the universe exists a CD changer that has a chrome body that you load your CDs into two slots in the top, they would then automatically--beyond belief I'll wager--descend slowly into the toas--er--player to be played to a golden brown and slowly ascend when done.

You said a lot of words, and then you said “cat”, and there were some words after that but none of them were a picture of said cat.
Pay cat tax, please.

Do you have any Raffi?!
2020-08-18 19:50:31 +0000 UTC
Funny stuff. I kept vacillating between “I gotta have one” and “that’s useless” in parallel with your commentary. Also cool info about The Fischer lineage. Oh, and where’s the cat?!
2020-08-18 18:43:40 +0000 UTC
Wow, never knew that existed, really cool indeed even if of dubious utility, and I second the "slot load record player and top CD player" thing :P Also, I believe there is a law somewhere that says that if you tell us you have a cat you're subsequently required to play with it on camera in every video from then on... Awesome about Tom Scott, another awesome youtuber even if the games aren't usually the main thing I'm interested in, but will watch that series now. Guess you'll be able to reconnect whatever got disconnected :P

Cool! And I totally agree: it's not very useful, but in a way, it's cool, and it's creative, I like to see such products in these kind of videos, that's why I'm a Patreon of both you and Techmoan ;-)

Well my „great” td124 doesn’t like AC voltage changes and now I know what to replace it with

You made a dangerous mistake. You mentioned having a cat, now people will want to see that more than anything else, lol.
