2nd Channel Shenanigans!

Here's the first video in what may become a series that I've been thinking of doing for a long time.

Since now we're all kinda stuck where we are, what better time to start? Let me know your thoughts on this. I may do more in the future!

I haven't been in the same room as a VeggieTales tape in years, but the second I saw that green cassette I knew exactly where it came from!

"I haven't thrown anything away yet, I realize that..." LOL! I hear ya.

Arthur Robillard

This was a fun video

Didn't read the other comments, so sorry if I'm repeating someone's idea: This is cool and interesting in an odd way, but I definitely need more closure. I can't see this video end with a bunch of crap on the table. It would be more satisfying if you threw the things into bins labeled: * On second though, need * Recycling * Trash * Donate On another note, I love the new catchphrase "couldn't tell ya!"

Where can i buy the RGB oval t-shirt? From Redbubble? I already purchased the shadowmask shirt, and I have received multiple complements. I would enjoy owning the (Sony) RGB oval shirt also, BTW, I enjoyed this video, and would enjoy future videos of this type as well. Thank you, Alec, for your excellent content. It is a wonderful distraction in these troubled times.

Definitely enjoyable!

Noah Ramon

I kept yelling at my tv for you to throw it away. Fun viewing.

Benjamin A.

Ok, it's official: you can make watching paint dry worth watching! :-) Suggestion: how about going over the stuff in your backdrop? Some interesting looking stuff there!

HarveyB

Oddly compelling viewing. I don't know why. But it's clear that you, like me, are a hoarder. "You never know when this may come in handy..."

Big Car

I would watch a stream of "watching random VHS tapes" if you wanted to do it that way... You'd be able to, maybe, set up a OBS setup for that....

Make that video of you going through your optical discs, because I'd rather watch you do it than do it myself! #content

Jennifer Holz

Just funny to see, a bin full of junk that ends with a table full of junk 😅. But it's sure fun, so keep continuing! 😁

MrHammond

Wow, someone that had a Discover card. Now I know two of you...

Kevin Tessner

I just went through a bin of junk in my basement, and took a break by watching you do pretty much the same thing. Social distance Spring cleaning at its best. We should post the weirdest finds.

Buckaroo Bunny Slippers

Please do more, absolutely!

Joe Turner

Oooh yes please more!

Would love to see a part 2. Also, sign some floppies, I’m sure some of us (myself included) would pay postage to get one!

Stumblr

...I first read that as "COVID Labelmaker" 😳

That reverse-colour VHS of Connections might be the best thing I've ever seen. I've honestly never related to an object and the reason it exists more in my life.

Kevin Kostka

Very enjoyable. Do another one!

And then you'll keep watching Hoarders and not do the cleanup. Or worse, when you hear "well after all our stuff is not that bad, whatchatalkingabout..."

Raphaël

The trick to cleaning out old stuff is to first watch 3 episodes of Hoarders. You will hear your own excuses used to keep absolute garbage, and you will not make the same mistake.

clickallnight

This was SO fun! I'd love to watch more of these :D I nearly died of laughter at your reaction to the jewel cases for the mini CDRs XD

Pidge Gauss

I loved this. You're great to listen to off script. I'm sure it's not your intentions, but it does feel good to get to know the people we follow on YouTube. It makes it so much better than all the brain dead content regular media pushes into our heads these days. Looking forward to seeing multiple follow-ups to this one.

Storage Wars: Nerdy Edition :-)

Insider Chad

hold it in your outstreached hands and ask yourself, "does this bring me joy?"

BiggieJohn

Would like to see a part two! 🙂

joseph

My best friend in high school ruined his car CD Player with one of those.

I loved the 8cm CD format, but by the time I really got into it they just didn't hold enough data to be useful to me.

Don Eitner

If I were ever to create a youtube series, it'd be following the format from Connections. "...which is like that time in ancient Greece..."

Porkchop

connections is still a fucking awesome series! i wore tapes out watching the PBS broadcasts!

V.E. Griffith

Oh yeah, I got so caught up in my stuff I forgot to mention: Yes, more of these are fine, but a teensy bit more organized. Like toss, donate, recycle, and keep tubs. Nothing can't go into one of those tubs once it comes out of the tub you're emptying. Once you've gone through EVERYTHING, go through the keep tub again. :-(

We started doing this in February, because we had given up an external storage unit. We found a trunk of my parent's papers. They both fought in WWII (My mom was a partisan in Tuscany, my dad a GI) so we wound up buying about 3000 (NOT an exaggeration) page protectors and 15 3-4" 3 ring binders and sorted them by author, language, & content and then I bought a document scanner, so now we're slowly pulling the pages OUT of the 3 ring binders running them through the scanner (35 ppm wow!) and putting them BACK into the binders. I'm leaving it to our kids (B.A. in English, the other in history) to work on them. After we're dead. So now we're going on with the (full) guest room. I'm crying as I say we can get rid of something that we've had memories going back 40 years. *Sigh*.

CD/DVD label maker: You could simply make big round labels perhaps? or does it have to be lots of text?
