The making of the red/green button demo

Hello! I've got a behind the scenes video for you!

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nzfGGq0Q_s

It's a lot longer than it seemed like it was going to be, and it definitely doesn't need your intense attention for most of it, so this might be a perfect "watch while doing laundry" type video. But I do hope you get some enjoyment from it!

Great vid! BTW, I was always told to put a diode in reverse across the relay coil- a flyback diode. This is because when you de-energize the coil, the magnetic field collapses and generates a sometime large opposite voltage that can damage your power supply or any components you might have controlling it (a mosfet, for example.) The diode will let that opposite voltage dissipate through the coil instead. It also reduces electrical 'noise' in your circuits. No need for it in this demo though. Great work!

Love having the BTS.

This was awesome!

I enjoy that you seem to have had an elevator installed at HQ, but now I want to know what secret sub-basement it's descending to, given the double chime we heard!

Kevin Kostka

Huh, honestly I never thought of that! Better not let me have a go at re-wiring an elevator

Interesting video as always! The way you wired the stop button is not the typical latching start/stop circuit, as the stop button does not take priority. IOW, if the start button became stuck closed, the stop button does nothing. The stop would normally be wired into the 'always on' feeding the start button, so it removes power from the entire circuit.
