November Nonsense
Added 2019-10-31 18:49:45 +0000 UTCHey hey, Happy Halloween! It's been snowing quite a lot here in Illinois. Got about 3.5 inches (in the ballpark of 10 cm) on the ground here at headquarters. This is the only time in my memory where we've had snow on Halloween! Usually the first snow is insignificant, and well into November. Not this year! Now, I certainly had my fair share of cold, rainy, or otherwise dreadful deliberately-asking-for-candy-from-strangers sessions as a kid, but the children of 2019 sure are having a terribly tenuous time today trick or treating.
I can't remember if I gave specifics about how November's gonna go for me in my last video update. I'll be travelling with (and for) family for a good portion of the month. As such, I'm gonna try something new!
A themed month! Not sure if I'm gonna call it No-effort November, or No-time November, or something similarly silly and sensational, but the premise is that the month will be filled with quick videos. Since October was such a slow month given how the CED project was going I really want to put out some more hashtag content while also being a little more chill about it since, ya know, time constraints. And also, I'm trying to achieve that work-life balance zen everyone is going on about.
I've got two definite topics lined up, but looking for a third. Suggestions welcome! Otherwise I'll dip into my reserve topics fund.
Also! The second channel has been gathering dust, so I figure I'll put some stuff up there, too! There's a thing regarding the JVC LCCS monitor that I didn't get into during the main channel video, and I think it would be worthy to just show it on TC2. As a reminder, I don't put that stuff up early here on Patreon, but I do post it for those that don't go to YT regularly.
Okeydokles! Thanks everyone!

I think you should do something completely out of left field... like the technologies of Pipe Organs or something.

2019-11-12 00:36:30 +0000 UTCSuggestion: The MiniDisc format. I really loved it when it came out and I still have my Sony portable recorder/player and the Panasonic ultra-mini-player (barely larger than the format).

2019-11-07 05:21:56 +0000 UTCMaybe a video on the Péritel (also known as Scart) vidéo socket/cable standart used in Europe during the 80/90 ? I like to call it hdmi ancestor 😛

2019-11-04 23:41:50 +0000 UTCSuggestion: Sony Watchman. I remember thinking they were just the coolest thing around as a kid.
2019-11-03 22:59:30 +0000 UTCI don't know how interested others would be in the topic, but I'd be really curious to see what you could dig up on what happened to the 2.88MiB floppy disk.
2019-11-02 14:45:24 +0000 UTCI know you’ve covered laserdisc and separately, TOSLink, but I can’t remember - have you covered AC3-RF? If not, that would be a cool topic. Also... the evolution of cellular voice and data standards around the world... that in itself could be a long series of fascinating videos.

2019-10-31 19:01:22 +0000 UTCPlease please please can we have something on the British electrical plug and socket system?
2019-10-31 18:59:00 +0000 UTCI think No-Effort November has a nice, comedic ring to it. I’d go with that.
