Disney parks related videos--ideas? Desires?
Added 2019-01-17 16:21:09 +0000 UTCIn the not-too-distant future I'll once again find myself in the depths of the Mouse Kingdom. This trip was way less planned than most, and I have my impulsive brother to thank for spurring this along.
Anyway, I'm putting this out to you in case there is anything you'd like me to look into or cover regarding technology at Walt Disney World. I like to turn these trips into opportunities (particularly as they help finance them ;) and I already have one idea in mind.
Even if it's just a personal question and not a video idea, I'd be happy to oblige.
This request will stay open for a literal year, as this will be the first time in a long time that my family is doing things the smart way regarding our trip down there. Without getting too long-winded into this, my mom worked for the Disney store between 2000 and 2002-ish, and at that point you were considered a full-on cast member and an employee of the Walt Disney Company (maybe you still are, I'm not sure). And one of the huge perks she got (in addition to free park admission) was a steep discount on joining the Disney Vacation Club (which is their timeshare). So she and my dad bought into it at something close to half off, and that's why I've been there so many times. And we (the entire family) have this timeshare until 2042. Yikes!
OK, I'm getting long winded when I said I wouldn't, but the DVC works on a point system, and we get 200 points each year to spend. And the number of points it takes per night varies drastically depending on when you go and which hotel you stay in. And in the past we've always gone near the holidays because it was among the few times we could all get time off (and in earlier years, school breaks). So we'd blow through those points very quickly and usually would only be there for a few nights. Or we'd bank points from one year and spend more time there every other year. But this year we're going at a slow time, and it will take a small amount of points, so we will still have a lot left over.
I'm boring you I can tell, but this means that at some point I'll be going again in 2019 or early 2020, possibly just with my mom, I don't know for sure. Depends on flights and junk. My mom and I bought annual passes so at least the two of us are committed to going once more. Disney is so good at taking your money!
So yeah. If anything comes to mind let me know. And if you think of anything in the next year, send me a message! While I will of course be going again after then (timeshares kinda force it) it may not be for a few years. So get your requests in now! Or don't, that's OK too. I don't mind :)

At the very beginning of the Enchanted Tales with Belle attraction, there is a scene where a "magic mirror" "expands" to reveal a doorway, and guests have to step through said doorway to get to the next part of the attraction. Maybe you should do a video on that?

2019-01-21 10:08:59 +0000 UTCRob Plays did a video about this recently - the cost of putting in the monorail per metre is enormous. Think $Bns. The skyliner is way cheaper even though the passenger capacity is lower than a monorail.

2019-01-18 09:11:37 +0000 UTCI'd like to know how the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor show in Tomorrowland works. But I don't know if I should expect you to actually have an opportunity to find out.

2019-01-18 06:38:02 +0000 UTCInterestingly, I was watching one of his old videos, and he mentioned that he'd do a video on 8-track later after doing one on cassette. Maybe it can be reconsidered since he recently did another video that continued his original series?

2019-01-17 22:58:24 +0000 UTCBy their very nature, all patents are publicly available to look at, and are, after 20 years, open to take advantage of without any licensing.

2019-01-17 22:53:59 +0000 UTCFrom what I understand, editing the video to never have more than 15 seconds of copyrighted audio at a time would largely eliminate that problem. Perhaps a video could be made with the main content on technology connections one, and a non-monetized companion video on TC2 featuring a more thorough demonstration of how it actually sounds.

2019-01-17 22:53:03 +0000 UTCDid you just realize this? ;)

2019-01-17 21:02:42 +0000 UTCCheck out the Rob Plays channel: he's got a bunch of videos on the logistics of running the Disney World Resort: https://www.youtube.com/user/robplaysthatgame
2019-01-17 20:59:42 +0000 UTCThere are a few patents that are publicly available and explain quite a bit about ride systems. The one about the EMV vehicles for Indiana Jones/Dinosaur is especially interesting!
2019-01-17 20:56:53 +0000 UTCLucky you! That's my kinda place. So much fun and high spirits there (non-alcoholic of course). Whenever you make the trip I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time and, knowin' you, you'll find something really interesting and intriguing to focus and and share with us. Be safe. VGC

2019-01-17 20:06:59 +0000 UTCI am thinking that you may be a lot more fascinated with Disney than most of us are!

2019-01-17 19:53:11 +0000 UTCIt's not the most technology topic, but if love a video on some of the logistics involved in Disney functioning. I'm not a very Disney person, but I now want to go because of your earlier Disney videos. Something about removing the veil a bit makes it so much more interesting!

2019-01-17 19:44:45 +0000 UTCIdea: Not Disney related, but would you like to do one on 8 Tracks? I'm pretty sure my parents still have something super rare: an 8 track recorder.

2019-01-17 18:47:26 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure it's an RF transmission from the floats, but I'm not sure. Tricky to do a vid on that 'cause of copyright.

2019-01-17 17:21:10 +0000 UTCOoh! That's actually a really interesting topic because there are some odd limitations to the Magic Bands and I'd like to investigate them (for instance--if you are staying in two different hotels, you get a new magic band for each stay which seems really wasteful but probably necessary for some reason).

2019-01-17 17:20:33 +0000 UTCHow about the evolution of the fast pass to the nfc wristbands etc.?
2019-01-17 17:16:33 +0000 UTCYeah, I have a request, TAKE ME WITH! Haha, your video on Space Mountain introduced me to your channel. I've always wondered how the parades keep their audio in sync and transition in and out of different zones. Im guessing its radio transmitters or NFC?

2019-01-17 17:07:32 +0000 UTCHmm. That might be too close to the video Tom Scott did about why monorails aren't everywhere. But I'll think about it!
